Consider your pages’ composition carefully – please do not scribble on a page and say, “Well, this was my response to the work ‘moody.’” 1 assignments are given each week for those taking the class for 1 credit; 2 are given to those who are taking the course for 2 credits. Each entry is 15 points – 5p for completion , 5p for experimentation, 5p for craftsmanship. Collection times are posted below. Additional assignments are on the calendar. Glue it in your SB and alter it by drawing and painting over it/around it. Monday 9/20 Reflections: Observe a still life made up of reflective objects and apply oil painting techniques. This is a study in LIGHT and a chance to master oil painting techniques. Artist PPT. Create thumbnails. 2c – Create a B/W drawing from the reflective still life using charcoal showing the illusion of 3D form, light, and contrast. Tuesday 9/21 Reflections STUDIO Composition, Contrast, Craftsmanship Choose the most successful thrumbnail, prep, painting surface, experiment with lighting situations. **What’s a prepared surface?** (2 SB assignments require this this month)

- A prepared surface is one that has been watercolored on, collaged on, scribbled on, drawn on, etc. etc. Basically, it’s a NON-white surface. Refer

to the “Avoiding White Page Syndrome” WS that was given to you over the summer

IMPORTANT DATES –

SEPT 16th – LAST DAY TO TURN IN LARGE PORTRAIT FOR CREDIT 

DUE DATES:SEPT. 27 – Art and Fear questions due

OCT 7th – SKETCHBOOK COLLECTION – 3 pages for 1c, 6 pages for 2c (Sketchbooks are collected the FIRST THURSDAY of
