ASG Mission Statement

Design, manufacture, and market quality sensor products and related electronics to

the global marketplace while providing exceptional service to its customers

ASG History• 1942 Herman Schaevitz founds Schaevitz Engineering• 1976 Howard A. Schaevitz becomes Chairman and CEO• 1986 Schaevitz Engineering sold to Lucas Industries PLC• 1994 Macro Sensors founded by Howard A. Schaevitz• 2005 American Sensor Technologies buys Macro Sensors• 2009 Sensing Solutions is founded by Harold G. Schaevitz• 2012 Alliance Sensors Group founded by Howard and

Harold Schaevitz as a division of H.G. Schaevitz LLC and Sensing Solutions is merged into ASG

ASG History (cont.)Alliance Sensors Group is a recently formed company that traces its lineage back 70 years to the founding of Schaevitz Engineering by Herman Schaevitz in 1942. He built Schaevitz Engineering into the premier name in LVDT position sensing technology before retiring in 1976 and handing over the company to his son Howard. As chairman and CEO, Howard A. Schaevitz guided Schaevitz Engineering for more than a decade, building it into one of the world's largest manufacturers of position sensors for the industrial and aerospace markets.

In 1986, Schaevitz Engineering was sold and in 1989, Howard Schaevitz departed the firm. In 1994, Howard Schaevitz and several former Schaevitz employees founded Macro Sensors, the second generation of Schaevitz sensor businesses, to make improved LVDT-based products. In 2005, Macro Sensors was sold and eventually both Howard Schaevitz, CEO, and his son Harold Schaevitz, a sales engineer, left Macro Sensors.

In 2012, Howard A. Schaevitz and Harold G. Schaevitz formed Alliance Sensors Group as a division of H.G. Schaevitz LLC, the third generation of Schaevitz sensor companies, with Harold Schaevitz as CEO. One of the first actions of the new company was to acquire from Everight Sensors Corporation the heavy duty LVDTs and support electronics products designed specifically for the electric power generation industry.

Military and Aerospace Applications

• LCAC- Navy Landing Craft

• Valves on spacecraft launch pads

PG Series LVDT Specifications• Rated for up to 350°F (175°C) operating

temperature• 3/8 inch diameter core extension rod …

twice the diameter used in typical LVDTs

• Totally enclosed core cannot vibrate loose, break off, or fall away

• Two double contact shaft seals keep grit and dirt out of the LVDT’s bore

• Optional inline ball joint on core rod takes up minor installation misalignment

• Housing wall 10 to 20 times the thickness of a standard LVDT sensor

• Works in 3-wire, 4-wire, 5-wire, and 6-wire systems, and ratiometric (A-B) ∕ (A+B) signal conditioners needing a constant sum of the secondaries voltage

PG Series LVDTs for Steam Turbine Power Generation

GE & Siemens Westinghouse Valve Feedback on: - Control and Stop Valves - Governors - Transfer and Throttle Valves

- Feed water pump valve position - Mild radiation environments (BWR)

PGs on Valves

LA Series LVDTs• 25 or 27mm outer diameter

housing- IP67 or IP68 rated• Multi channel LVDTs for power

generation– LAD- dual redundant– LAT- tri-redundant

• Steel, Aluminum, Paper mill applications including:

– Head box feedback,– roller gap position– industrial automation – fluid power systems

need to incorporate drawing of LAD

Linear Position Sensors for Hydraulic and Pneumatic Cylinders- No Magnet Required!!

MR-7 and ME-7 series advantages:•Designed to replace magnetostrictive sensors in form, fit, and function•No Magnet Required- installed magnets can remain in place•Lower Cost•Ranges up to 1 meter•Ruggedized for high vibration and shock•Temperature rated to -40 to 125C•Rated for 5000 psi (330 bar)

ME-7 (embedded) MR-7 (port-mount)

MR-7 and ME-7 Series on Trains, Trams, and Light Rail

ME series in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders for:•Kneeling- raising and lowering tram for passenger loading and unloading•Slack adjustment for air braking systems•Locomotive brake cylinders•Suspension systems•Waster Water Pumps•Airport Sweepers

LV Series Inductive Technology• High end pot or LVDT

replacement• Spring loaded and rotary

versions available• IP67 rated • Bridge expansion, roller gap,

steel or aluminum thickness, rail track monitoring

• Simple coil design can be packaged in many different configurations

• Operating temp: -40 to 125 C• Electronics can be separated a

short distance from the body

LV Series in Civil Eng Applications
