Creekview Senior Project Proposal Form 2012-13 Teacher Mrs. Corbett Date August 16, 2012 All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, `2012. You will not be allowed to change your topic after October 12, 2012. The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High School. 1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project. I, with my partner Kamela, will be hosting a 5k race that will benefit a family with several special needs children. 2) What is your previous experience in this area of study? My previous experience in this area includes being involved in many community service projects throughout the school. For example, I helped work at the Beta club walk for Muscular Dystrophy. 3) To what career will you connect this project (required)? I will connect this project to the communications job area. Since I will be dealing with getting the sponsors and the location for the 5k, I will learn valuable communication and problem solving skills that will benefit me in my future career. 4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the back of this sheet if necessary. For my 5k, I will focus on finding the location for the race and getting all of the sponsors. First, I plan to look at several appropriate venues that would be willing to host a 5k. I would have to make my decision pretty quickly since my partner and I plan to host our 5k this semester and I want to give our potential venue enough notice time. Next, I will focus on getting sponsors for our walk. I plan not only to mail out letters asking for donations, but go business to business and ask in person if they would like to be a sponsor for our walk. Sponsors will get a space on the back of our t-shirt that the runners will get. My last main job for the 5k will be to run the race on the actual day. My partner, Kamela, will focus on finding a potential family and doing all the advertising for the walk. She will also be in charge of getting raffle prizes, such as signed footballs. 5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you? This project will be a learning stretch because creating a 5k is the biggest community service project that I have ever done. Going to businesses to get sponsorships will greatly increase the skills I will need working in the communications job area. 6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
