SENIOR DIRECTOR, INDIRECT SOURCING OVERVIEW New, senior-level position in ARAMARK Supply Chain Management, Inc. (SCM) reporting to the CFO/Vice President Finance and Indirect Sourcing. SCM provides an array of sourcing and other support services to multiple business units in ARAMARK's Food and Support Services (FSS) division, one of the world's largest providers of food and facility management services to health care institutions, universities and school districts, stadiums and arenas, and businesses. Responsibilities of the position include oversight of fleet management (9,000 vehicles in North America); travel and event management ($200+ million annual spend); graphics, reproduction, and express package delivery services ($100+ million annual spend); and a staff of 40 employees. The position, based at ARAMARK world headquarters in downtown Philadelphia, PA, requires a combination of proven experience and technical expertise in sourcing functions and strong policy making, strategic visioning, customer service, change management, and team development and leadership skills. FUNCTIONAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY This position involves directing and overseeing the performance of several critical indirect sourcing functions for 12 FSS lines of business (LOBs), including: Fleet Management (indirect oversight via "dotted-line" relationship to Fleet Operations team in a parallel SCM business unit) * Development of strategy, business plans, and technology platform * Lead contracting efforts for critical aspects of Fleet Services, including: - Vehicle selection, acquisition, in-servicing - Vehicle maintenance and repair - Fleet safety and vehicle accident management - Vehicle fueling - Vehicle replacement and remarketing - Insourcing vs. Outsourcing opportunities Note: Virtually all day-to-day asset management functions are outsourced to fleet management companies. Travel/Events Management (direct oversight) * Travel policy and procedure development * Selection and management of travel transaction systems and service contracts * Establishment and maintenance of national account programs * Event site selection, planning, contracting, and management Graphics, Reproduction, and Print Services (direct oversight) * Management of in-house copy and graphics services teams and suppliers * Design, creation, and production of various company documents, both for internal and for

external use * Development of strategic vendor relationships and on-site resourcing solutions ROLES AND DUTIES The key roles and duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Customer Service Management * Establishment and maintenance of effective partnerships with FSS LOB's aimed at

identifying and understanding their needs for indirect sourcing support services and obtaining their feedback on the quality and costs of such services

* Provision of assistance to LOB's in the areas of indirect resource and services requirements definition, forecasting, planning, and budgeting

* Development and implementation of service level agreements governing the provision of indirect sourcing services

* Development and implementation of customer communication mechanisms (management reports, Web site/portal, advisory committees, satisfaction surveys, ad hoc focus group sessions, etc.)

Supplier Management * Identification, evaluation, and provision of guidance to LOB and corporate management

on insourcing versus outsourcing of indirect sourcing activities * Identification and alignment of LOB product and service requirements to leverage

corporate buying power and promote standardization (where appropriate) so as to enhance the value of product and service purchases

* Establishment and maintenance of effective partnerships with suppliers to drive value * Leadership of cross-functional teams comprised of procurement, administrative, financial,

marketing, and legal community representatives in development of contract specifications

and solicitations; review of bids and proposals; selection of suppliers; and negotiation and execution of contracts

* Conduct supplier performance reviews and audits * Development and implementation of supplier communication mechanisms (information

system interfaces, management reports, Web sites, advisory committees, satisfaction surveys, ad hoc focus group sessions, etc.)

* Identification and support of "Mission One" opportunities and initiatives aimed at leveraging relationships between SCM, LOB's, and suppliers to support the marketing, sale, and distribution of FSS and other ARAMARK services

Best Practices Implementation * Review and evaluation of current business practices and identification of opportunities for

improvement, including standardization across LOBs and integration of indirect sourcing practices employed by newly acquired companies

* Design and management of business process reengineering initiatives, including performance measurement, situational analysis, business case (ROI) justification, process redesign, proof-of-concept testing, results measurement, and implementation and roll out

* Researching/monitoring of industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies * Participation in appropriate professional and trade organizations and training programs * Establishment of indirect sourcing Center of Excellence to serve as a source of technical

expertise and Policy and Procedure Setting * Review, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines, and

standards to promote cost-effective performance of all indirect sourcing functions and associated planning, management, and operating activities

* Updating and revision of policies and procedures to reflect changing operational, financial, regulatory, and other conditions and requirements

* Documentation and dissemination of policies and procedures * Coordination with Corporate Compliance Office, Human Resources and Risk

Management in measuring and enforcing adherence to established policies and procedures

Forecasting and Planning * Identification of organizational, operational, resource, and business process change

requirements based on ongoing monitoring of conditions, costs, and other key performance indicators

* Development and execution of short and long-range plans that include definitions of strategic and tactical goals and objectives, deliverables and end products, tasks and action items, responsibility assignments, milestones and timelines, and resource requirements and budgets

Financial Management * Development and presentation of capital and operating budgets * Measurement and monitoring of costs relative to approved budgets and established profit

and other financial performance goals and targets * Development and execution of continuous cost containment/reduction strategies * Development and implementation of cost charge-back systems and other cost distribution

methodologies for promoting cost awareness and improved cost management/containment

Project Management * Direction of cross-functional teams in the definition and conduct of projects aimed at

improving performance, reducing costs, integrating new acquisitions, or effecting other organizational, managerial, or operational changes required to maximize the cost effectiveness of indirect sourcing activities and the value of goods and services purchases

Management Analysis and Reporting * Specification, selection, implementation, and use of management information systems * Definition of key performance indicators and implementation of performance

measurement, monitoring, and reporting processes * Conduct of ad hoc studies in areas such as business process evaluation, internal and

external benchmarking, business case/ROI analysis, makes versus buy analysis, etc. * Support of corporate M&O initiatives in the areas of due diligence review, integration

feasibility analysis, cost savings analysis, etc. * Monitoring of and reporting on compliance with regulations (DOT, FMCSA, IRS, EPA,

OSHA, etc.) * Development and dissemination of management reports to, and conduct of management

briefings for, EVP's, LOB CFO's, and other key business unit executives Team Development and Leadership * Implementation and use of existing corporate, and development of complementary

business unit-specific, employee motivation, mentoring, supervision, counseling, and other professional development and career advancement strategies, techniques, procedures and tools to create high-performance employees and work teams

* Development and implementation of succession plans for critical business unit employees so as to maintain and advance critical business unit competencies, institutional knowledge, and customer and supplier relationships

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

* Bachelor's degree in business administration, purchasing, supply chain management, or

a related field; MBA preferred * 15+ years experience in a sourcing or internal/corporate support organization in the

service industry, including a minimum of 10 years in management/supervisory positions; food service experience a plus

* Experience developing indirect sourcing contracts, especially in areas of fleet and travel management, with national and multinational suppliers

* Experience developing and leading projects and cross-functional work teams to achieve desired results

* Strong collaboration and team-building and leadership skills * Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with key corporate and

business unit executives * Outstanding analytical, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills * Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
