Many thanks go to Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Babick, Mrs. Snyder, Mr. Eisenreich, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Huttinger, and Ms. Wisniewski for all of their dedication and hard work this past year. Under their direction, Seneca Valley continues to have a top-notch band program that I consider the best in the region. As the 2014-2015 Band Booster season comes to an end, I would like to thank my Executive Board-Jon Singer, Neal Jackson, Christine Bench and Karen Brickley for all of their help and hard work. With their assistance, and the help of the many committee chairpersons and members, we have accomplished our mission of supporting the quality band program at Seneca Valley. Thank you also to the School Board and the Administration for their continued support of the band program. Thank you to all who are chairing committees for next year. For this 2015 – 2016 season we are in need of a chairperson for Lottery/Football 50/50, and Sheetz books. We are also looking for “shadows” for the Newsletter and Mattress Sales. If you are interested in these or serving on any of the committees, please contact any Executive Board member or the chairpersons listed at the back of this newsletter. Your support is much needed and greatly appreciated. Finally, I want to thank the Booster members that will be “graduating” with their seniors this year. We appreciate your many hours of service and dedication to the band programs along our Booster organization. For those returning Booster parents, our next meeting will take place in July so that we can plan for the Pie Fest and New Parent Informational Meeting planned in August. July’s booster meeting is currently scheduled for Hope Lutheran Church in Cranberry. Please keep an eye out for a date, and have a great summer! John L. Many thanks go to Mr. Armstrong, Mr.

Babick, Mrs. Snyder, Mr. Eisenreich, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Huttinger, and Ms. Wisniewski for all of their dedication and

hard work this past year. Under their direction, Seneca Valley continues to have a top-notch band program that I consider the best in the region.

As the 2014-2015 Band Booster season comes to an end, I would like to thank my Executive Board-Jon Singer, Neal Jackson,

committee chairpersons and members, we have accomplished our mission of supporting the quality band program at

Seneca Valley. Thank you also to the School Board and the Administration for their continued support of the band

program.

Thank you to all who are chairing committees for next year. For this 2015 –

2016 season we are in need of a

chairperson for Lottery/Football 50/50, and

serving on any of the committees, please contact any Executive Board member or the chairpersons listed at the back of this newsletter. Your support is much needed and

greatly appreciated.

Finally, I want to thank the Booster members that will be “graduating” with their seniors

this year. We appreciate your many hours of service and dedication to the band programs along our Booster organization.

For those returning Booster parents, our next meeting will take place in July so that we can plan for the Pie Fest and New Parent

Note:

This newsletter serves as

the main form of commu-

nication for the Band

Boosters organization as

well as all band

activities.

You are welcome to

submit articles by the

15th of the month before

you want the information

to be printed. This

newsletter is published

at the beginning of

every month except

January and July. Send

your articles via e-mail

to:

[email protected].

Please use “band

newsletter” as your

subject line.

Ahhhhh yes….summer vacation! Some of

you may have been looking forward to this since September. Your break is well-deserved. This year’s ensembles have put

forth great effort and some really exception-al performances. From the first attack of marching band camp to final release of

commencement band, success has surely followed the Seneca Valley Bands.

Special congratulations to our outgoing seniors. Every graduation class leaves their mark and legacy on the SV Band. The class

of 2015 is no different. As directors, we were delighted to work with such a pleasant group of hard-working young adults.

For the underclassmen that will be returning to the Seneca Valley Bands you have some responsibilities/obligations to maintain

through the summer.

1. Enjoy your time off. Cherish moments with family and friends. Stay safe and make the most your break.

2. Practice your instrument! Play music you enjoy practicing. You have to maintain your “chops”. Your individual

attention over the summer will benefit the larger group next fall.

3. Be aware of any important obligations

and dates leading up to the school year. This is especially true of all marching band members. Check

www.svband.net often! The directors and staff are looking forward to working with all of the returning

members during the 2015/2016 school year. Musically,

Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Babick, Mr. Eisenreich, and Mrs. Snyder

We are looking for interested people to

join the Pasta Dinner Planning Commit-tee. We will be meeting sometime during the summer to establish the date,

location, and details of next fall’s pasta dinner fundraiser. We need all the help

we can get!! If you are able to help,

Pie Fest is the final event of band camp and

will be the debut of the SV Marching Band’s 2015 Half Time show! Pie Fest is a combined celebration of the band’s hard work and a

fundraiser to support their needs throughout the year.

Our Pie Fest celebration invites Family,

Friends and the public to come see the new half time show and support the band through the purchase of a ticket to not only see the

show but entitles them to as much pie, ice cream, and refreshments as they would like before and after the show.

Whole pies can also be purchased and a 50/50 raffle will be offered as additional fundraising activities during the event.

This is one of the Band’s largest fundraising

events of the year and many parent volunteers are needed to run it efficiently. Each band family is asked to donate 2 pies to

support the event and volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Pie Cutting (early afternoon before the

event. 2:30-5:00)

Money takers at the door (both cafeteria and

stadium)

Set-up

50/50 bucket people

Whole pie sellers

Drink, pie and ice cream stockers

Clean-up

Note: Volunteers WILL NOT miss the half time performance at 6:30! We close the cafeteria so

helpers get to see the show too.

This is a great way to get involved in the SV

Band Program and get to know many of the other parents and families too. Look for the sign- up sheets at the Uniform fittings and New Parent

meetings over the summer. We could really use your help!

The dates for band camp are:

Full Band Camp: Starts Thursday, August 6th, 2015

Percussion Camp usually begins at the

beginning of the week, but we have not definite date yet.

During full band camp, we will need several parents each day to pass out ice and water to the marching band

members. Please consider volunteering a day (or more!) at band camp. FYI – unlike the students, the band parents

have a tent, so you do not need to worry about being out in the sun all day! You can volunteer for a full day or a

half day. Sign-ups will be available at uniform fittings, or you can send an

Email to: [email protected] .

As you are adding those home football

games to your calendar for the fall, be sure to pick a game or two to volunteer in the concession stands. We need at least 25

volunteers at each game to staff the concession stands. All of our volunteers

enjoy their time working, and there are even a few of us crazy people that LOVE our concession time! (You know who you

are!!!) If you are not available Friday evenings, we also need a volunteer to pick up the pepperoni rolls Friday afternoon

before home games. Sign-ups for the home games will be available at uniform fittings, or you can send an Email to:

[email protected] .

Band Camp!!

Band Camp Dates:

Thursday, August 6th

through

Thursday, August 20th

7:30 a.m.—3:00 p.m.

I am calling out to parents who are

nurses and may be able to help me during band camp. I am currently coordinating the nurses for band camp.

Unfortunately I have a job that will not allow me to spend every day at band

camp. I am looking for some nursing volunteers to help me on the days I cannot be there or to be the second

nurse on a day I am able to be there. Your duties will include basic first aid and collecting and filing of the medical

forms.

If you are interested or have any

questions, please give me a call:
