Scheduling for Success! Tips and Tricks for Sept 20, 2018 8:30 AM-11:30 AM

Seamless Transition by Sarah Mai Jan 10, 2019 12:30 PM-3:30 PM

Adapting Curriculum can be daunting even for the seasoned educator. This three hour interactive seminar will help you better understand the nine different types of adaptations, when to use them and how to successfully implement changes to your current curriculum. Proven samples will be shared with attendees in this educator led session covering

adaptations that work for K-8th grade in various subjects. Attendees will learn what accommoda-tions/modifications are and when to use them, how to access general education curriculum through modifications that engage the learner, and ways to evaluate an adapt assignments to achieve the in-tended learning outcomes.

Do you find yourself going in circles when it comes to scheduling your student’s day? What works for one student, doesn’t work for another and you feel like you might never find a schedule that works? This seminar discusses effective ways to make tran-sition seamless so you work smarter, not harder.

Effective approaches to working with learners with Down syndrome will be explored, along with differ-ent schedule approaches to make life easier in the classroom. Think outside the box and see what oth-ers are doing so that you can get back to teaching!

Is your student with Down syndrome prompt, praise and reward dependent? Do you spend a significant amount of the day trying to find ways to motivate the student to work or stay on task? This seminar will highlight strategies for structur-ing your classroom and schedule for success while

promoting independence and on task behavior. Attendees will also learn how to help students identify when they are frustrated and ask for help as well as develop coping strategies and work through non-preferred tasks.

Are you using technology to help your students with intellectual disabilities? If not, why? This presentation will highlight common challenges with implementing and accessing technology and important resources you can access to help your students be successful.

Attendees will learn when and how to schedule an assistive tech evaluation, how to identify the right app for learning needs, and how to identify, imple-

ment and evaluate technology tools. Attendees will also increase their chances of having instruc-tional success through technology application and find literacy solutions through Apps, software and more! Information on how Universal Design for Learning can alter technology identification and use will also be presented. Using technology for progress monitoring and adaptations should be-come a more familiar language to those attending this workshop.

All sessions are FREE and offered twice.
