Seminar Overview

The responsibility of a proactive government is to defend its population from entities that might cause harm. Since new threat forms

are developed regularly, effective defense mechanisms must be developed rapidly and economically - before it is too late and without

bankrupting an economy.

To serve this need, today’s advanced defense products have extremely rigid specifications. They must be robust enough to operatereliably under harsh conditions. Failure to meet these requirements results in rejection by the defense organization, rework and

redevelopment costs. These induced high costs and difficulty of real-life testing motivates engineers to use simulation to research, optimize new systems before they are prototyped or field tested.

Defense companies worldwide rely on ANSYS tools to accurately simulate efficiency, survivability, and other mission critical product

requirements. Integrated and coupled multi-physics capabilities from ANSYS account for the interactions of different physicalphenomena in the industry’s highly interdependent systems.

In this seminar, we will be presenting how the Defence industry can leverage on ANSYS Multiphysics capabilities. Case studies andsuccess stories will be presented as well.

Who Should Attend

Engineering Managers, R&D Managers, Senior Engineers, Project Managers.

What customers say about our solutions

"Our core business is based on the development, modification, upgrading and through life support of military and commercial armored

vehicles. The use of modeling and simulation of design concepts via ANSYS tools reduces the amount of iteration required to reach amature design. It allows all concepts and design solutions to be considered and assessed for validity in a relatively compressed

timescale, enabling progression to a hardware solution (prototype) with high confidence of success. Modeling and simulation are very

often more cost-effective than prototyping."

Fabian Ravalico, Engineering Manager, Tenix Defence Pty Limited

" Our customers want to buy state-of-the-art turbines that have proven technology and are able to run 20 years without any major

problems. To achieve such strong structural components, ANSYS is very important for us."

Michael Schuld, Team Leader, Structural Engineering, PowerWind

"How do we reduce risk? We calculate it up front in simulation stages at both systems and component levels. ANSYS allows us to try it

before we build it."

Scott Parent, Vice President of Technology, Baker Hughes

About the speakers

Timothy Kwan, GM of CAD-IT Consultants Malaysia, holds a Graduate Certificate of Engineering

Management from Queensland University of Technology, Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Electronicsand Electrical Engineering from Kolej Damansara Utama. He joined CAD-IT Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd in

1996 and is responsible for overseeing the Malaysian operations as well as product management of CAD-

IT solutions in SEA.

He has received training in a range of simulation and PLM software, of which ANSYS is key. He hassuccessfully trained many customers including UTP, IIUM, USM, AMD, Carsem, Fairchild, Infineon and

Intel.

Dr. Wendy Hardyono Kurniawan, Technical Sales Consultant in CAD-IT Consultants (ASIA) Pte Ltd,

graduated from the University of Surabaya, Indonesia in 2002 with a B. Eng. in Manufacturing Engineering.

He then obtained his M. Eng. in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 from the National University of Malaysia, where his thesis focused on moving mesh for automotive engine simulation. In November 2007, hecompleted his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with research interests in computational fluid dynamics,

internal combustion engine modeling and mesh generation.

Wendy’s industrial experience as a manufacturing engineer and production supervisor in two Indonesian

production firms from June 2001 to April 2003 has helped him apply his knowledge in manufacturing tosolving customers’ problems in manufacturing using engineering simulation solutions.

Dr. Zheng Boyu joined CAD-IT as a Technical Consultant in 2013, after working as team leader and R&D

engineer in various organisations such as Institute of Microelectronics (A*STAR Singapore), United Test

and Assembly Centre, EPCOS, and Huawei. He holds a Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University,

Singapore.

Boyu has a strong background in RF/Microwave, wireless, and microelectronics with more than 14 years’

experience in the research and development of RF circuits, antennas, and high-speed systems including

design and electrical modeling, optimisation, prototype development and testing. He has also 6 years’

experience in microelectronic industry focusing on advanced packaging development.
