Key Terms & References• Entertainment Cruise Production Reservation Number.

This number may be found on your invoice and is applicable only when interacting with us.

• Celebrity Cruises Reservation Number. Every guest on a Celebrity Cruises sailing is provided a Reservation Number. Your number can be found in your GET READY booklet and on your latest invoice. This number is your key for checking in, establishing an onboard account and booking specialty dining, excursions and other amenities.

• Valid Identification. The Get Ready letter describes in detail what type of identification is required to board the ship. Though US Citizens may sail with only a government issued license and a validated birth certificate, we strongly recommend that every guest have a valid Passport. Non-US guests must have a valid Passport to board the ship.

Special Hint #1: Secure a valid Passport!

• Check In Process. Every guest must “check in” before boarding the ship. Here are the two ways to do so:• Terminal Check In – Many guests wait until arriving at the Cruise Terminal to “check in”. Doing so can be a lengthy

process.• Online Check In – We recommend that guests do their check in online as described in the GET READY booklet.

• Cruise Identification Card. Whether you have completed your Check In online or at the Cruise Terminal, you will be required to “register” at the terminal to finalize your boarding procedure. At that time, you will be provided a Cruise Identification Card, which will serve as your room key, charge card and identification card for the cruise.

• RED/BLUE. To ensure proper seating for the nightly Main Shows, cruise guests are divided into two groups based upon their selection at the time of their reservation. Those who selected to attend the 1st Main Show will be part of the BLUE Group and those who selected to attend the 2nd Main Show will be part of the RED Group. The background of your Cruise Identification Card should be either BLUE or RED based upon your selection.

• Souvenir Program/Daily Program. We prepare a Souvenir Program for each guest that you receive upon boarding the ship. The program is filled with information about the cruise, but its purpose is largely to provide a keepsake of the cruise for you. In terms of scheduling, on the night before each cruise day, a Daily Program is delivered to your room with the mostup-to-date listing of events, shows and special items. The Daily Program is the bible!

Embarkation Day: The Party Starts Here!• The Cruise Terminal opens for guest processing around 10:30 a.m. and will remain open

until 3:00 p.m. on Embarkation Day.

• We urge guests to avoid, if possible, arriving at the Cruise Terminal before 1:30 p.m. Those who arrive in Miami early that morning may come to the Cruise Terminal earlier but doing so may cause unnecessary bottlenecks.

• Tips for Embarkation Day:• Dress Comfortably, particularly in terms of footwear, as you may be on your feet for long periods of time.• Make sure that your luggage is properly and completely marked with your name and stateroom number. We

provide tags and encourage you to use them. Incorrect or illegible luggage identification is the #1 cause of misplaced or delayed luggage.

• Special Hint #2: Keep your Identification, medications and valuables on your person at all times.• Regardless of when you board the ship, your stateroom may not be ready for you until 2 p.m.• If you do board early, there is lunch served in the Ocean View Café and that time may be used to sign up for

specialty dining, spa treatments, excursions, beverage packages or just exploring the ship.• The goal is to have luggage to every stateroom by 6 p.m.

• Mandatory Safety Drill. As the name implies, at 3:00 p.m. or so, the services on the ship stop and everyone is required to participate in a safety drill. The requirement for lugging lifejackets and standing for long periods of time has been replaced with a (relatively) comfortable presentation of the safety procedures in venues throughout the ship. You can find your Muster Station in the lower right hand of your key card and the associated location of the Muster Station on the back of your cabin door.

• Sailaway Party. Immediately after the Mandatory Safety Drill, the party starts in earnest at the Sailaway Party.

Types of Shows/Planning• The types of shows presented fall into three main categories: Music Events, Learn Events, Fun

Events• Music Events are the shows where our amazing musicians perform. There is more than 120 hours of

music during the cruise! Many of the shows are repeated during the week, which allows all guests the opportunity to enjoy the shows. However, some of the larger music events (not including the Main Shows which are also performed twice) are performed only once.

• Learn Events are sessions where our musicians talk about themselves, field questions from the guests and give you the opportunity to learn more about what is happening “behind the instruments.”

• Fun Events are the parties, special meals, contests and games that we present daily. Yes, the main purpose of the cruise is to present the music, but we also have a lot of fun just playing around.

• Special Hint #3: Plan Each Day/Plan Your Week• Performance Schedules. In a few weeks, the Performance Schedule for The Smooth Jazz Cruise ‘20.1

will be posted on the website and will be sent out as part of another edition of Smooth Sailing. The Performance Schedule for The Smooth Jazz Cruise ‘20.2 will be posted and delivered later.

• Planning. Check out and review the Performance Schedule. Highlight the Music, Learn and Fun Events that are “can’t miss” items for you. Those events will form the parameters of your day and then you can fill in your dining, excursion or spa treatments accordingly. Your Plan is not in stone, so events that catch your eye once on the ship may be added as well, but at least you will have a framework as a starting point.

Show Format

• Every Night of the cruise, there is a Main Show in the Celebrity Theater which is performed twice.

• The 1st Show usually starts around 6 p.m., but they may vary. The 2nd Show always starts at 9 p.m.

• During the Reservation Process, each guest chose either 1st Show or 2nd Show as their time for the nightly Main Show.

• Those who chose the 1st Show are identified as BLUE guests and those who chose the 2nd Show are identified as RED guests.

• To confirm the RED/BLUE designations, the background of your Cruise Identification Card will correspond to the correct color.

• The Cruise Identification Card is your room key, onboard charge card and part of your identification when leaving and returning to the ship.

• All other shows, regardless of the venue, do not require using your Cruise Identification Card and there are no restrictions to entry other than the space available.

Main Show Seating & Show Guidelines • Except for the nightly Main Shows in the Celebrity Theater, all general public events on The

Smooth Jazz Cruise are open to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the Main Show Seating and the Show Guidelines described below.

• Again, for the Main Shows, guests with BLUE Cruise Identification Cards are to attend the 1st

Main Show and guests with RED Cruise Identification Cards are to attend the 2nd Main Show.• Main Show Seating Guidelines:

• You will be required to show your card upon entering the Celebrity Theater.• Guests may queue up in advance of the shows in the designated areas. • You may “share” a space in line with one other guest on a rotation basis, but you cannot add another person.• Doors typically open 20 minutes before the Main Show.• Once inside, you may select any “open” seat and you may hold one other seat for a companion.

Special Hint #4: One person stands in line to secure good seats and the companion joins later.• Guests who have sailed on The Smooth Jazz Cruise 10 or More times have reserved seats, and they are clearly

marked. The Reserved Seats account for 10% or less of the capacity and occupy only a portion of the seating in any one area, including the closest rows.

• Once the show starts, which we define as when the emcee starts speaking, all seats are “open” seats including seats that had been held by guests and Reserved Seats.

• Show Guidelines – The following guidelines apply to all shows• You may not save more than one seat and once the show starts that seat becomes “open” for all guests.• Photographing or recording the shows in any way is strictly prohibited. We have pros doing it for you.• After the show is over, please promptly leave the venue so that we can clean up before the next show.• Standing up and/or dancing during a show is permitted only if the time for doing so and the duration of the

actions are appropriate. Prolonged blocking the view of the stage by other guests is not permitted.

Performance VenuesMusic, Learn and Fun Events are scheduled in the following venues:

• Celebrity Theater. The main venue on the ship comfortably seats just over half of the guests. Celebrity Theater hosts the nightly Main Shows, Late Night Shows, Gospel Show and other special shows. (Decks 4, 5)

• Constellations. Located on Deck 11, Constellations is a 500+ seat lounge with panoramic views of the ocean and other sites. Constellations is the “perfect” music venue and is the place for significant interviews, game shows and other fun activities.

• Rendezvous Lounge. Located in between Celebrity Theater and The Trellis Restaurant on Deck 4, Rendezvous Lounge is the talk and interview mecca during the day, a great music connector during the early evening hours and our new late-night hang area where great food and drink and special “doings” will take place every night.

• Grand Foyer. The Grand Foyer is not really a venue, but as the location for the Martini Bar and the grand staircase, it is a very cool place to hang, so we will have piano music and some duets performing from time to time.

• The Trellis Restaurant. You will learn more about The Trellis Restaurant under the “Dining” section, but when we first saw this room, it cried out to be a music venue, much in the style of the high-end jazz clubs of the ‘30s and ‘40s. On several nights, we turn the ship’s main dining room into a cabaret style music venue complete with special drinks. It is really cool.

• Pool Deck Area. Music by the Pool is a staple of The Smooth Jazz Cruise, particularly on Celebrity Infinity as the pool area sets up brilliantly for shows. There will be both afternoon and late-night shows by the pool.

Dining ChoicesWhen you think of going on a cruise, it is hard not to think about food! We have some wonderful choices for you….

• The Trellis Restaurant. This stunning dining room serves breakfast and dinner every day and lunch on Days at Sea. Dinner selections include daily specials along with a staple of guest favorites. If you want escargot, Caesar salad, New York Strip, baked potato and dessert every night, you can do just that or you can sample the fine preparation of meat and seafood that the chefs offer each night.

• Ocean View Café. Located on the pool deck, it is impossible to spend a day without taking a stroll through the Ocean View Café, which is really several restaurants in one. The Grille area offers breakfast in the morning and is your location for hamburgers, hot dogs and fun food throughout the day. Inside is a full array of fine dining entrees, salad bar, pasta station, grill area and more. A full breakfast, including several choices of Eggs Benedict, is offered as well as a casual presentation of many dinner entrée items from The Trellis Restaurant.

• Tuscan Grille. An award-winning Italian steakhouse offering top meat, pasta and Italian cuisine. The fare is elegant, yet hearty, with the strong feel of a New York steakhouse. No one leaves the Tuscan Grille hungry or disappointed.

• Luminae. Though the entrée selections are limited each night, this very elegant menu changes nightly and pleases everyone. There is no better place for a romantic, quiet dinner featuring the finest cuisine, wines and service. It’s truly a gem at sea for dining.

• Le Petit Chef at Q’Sine. Elegant dinner with a “table show! The menu is limited but very, very good and you will be captivated by the antics of Le Petit Chef as he dances and carries on before each course…right on your table!

• Sushi on Five. No hiding the ball here. Located on Deck 5, Sushi on Five serves top-notch sushi and Asian fusion dishes for lunch (when at Sea) and every night for dinner. It did not take long for Sushi on Five to be the favorite hang for Artists and Musicians.

• Café al Bacio. Deck 5 is also the location for the most popular spot every morning, the specialty coffee shop. Coffees of all kinds as well as wine and spirits are offered together with pastries, cookies, and more. You pay for the drinks, but the goodies are free.

• Room Service. When you wish to relax and dine in the comfort of your stateroom, Celebrity offers24-Hour in-stateroom dining. (Complimentary, except for delivery surcharge for orders placed from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am).

• Special Mini-Buffets. On The Smooth Jazz Cruise, we do not want you to miss a thing, so every late night we bring the food to you. Outside certain venues and prominently in Rendezvous Lounge, there will be finger food to keep you fortified for your nightly activities.

SPECIAL HINT #5: You will gain weight! After all, it is a cruise!

Interacting with Artists & MusiciansPart of the excitement of The Smooth Jazz Cruise is the ability to meet, greet and speak to our Artists and Musicians. Virtually all of them are ready, able and willing to interact with guests, but here is quick primer on how this should take place and what to expect.

• Conversations. Whether you run into them in an elevator, waiting in line for food or in the gym, you will find yourself within inches of the Artists and Musicians on The Smooth Jazz Cruise. You should feel free to say hello, offer encouragement or profess your love of their music. If the circumstances allow and the Artist or Musician appears to be open to speaking at that time, feel free to exchange ideas, etc. We ask that guests refrain from discussions that might be offensive, controversial or personal in nature. And, of course, monopolizing the time of an Artist or Musician is unfair to them and your fellow guests.

• Autographs. Each Artist and Musician will be available for autographs at times set forth in the program. We ask that you limit your autograph request to one item during those sessions and that no one request an autograph outside the sessions.

• Photographs. This is a little trickier. There are no designated photo sessions. Most of the Artists and Musicians are willing to pose for selfies or photos, but we also know that this can be the most abused and intrusive procedure on the ship. We could list dozens of guidelines here or we can say simply that you should use good judgment and etiquette in seeking photos.

• Post-Show Etiquette. At the end of a show is the worst time to try to speak to Artists and Musicians or take photos. They have just completed a rigorous performance and we are trying to clear the venue so that we can clean it and get ready for the next show.

SPECIAL HINT #6: Remember, we are taking hundreds of photos for you and there are designated sessions for autographs. Enjoy the cruise without worrying about these items.
