Objectives and goals for this white paper

• It is common sense among people in the field of future end-user services that they must be realized in a co-operation between players taking different roles, e.g. net/telecom operators, service/content providers, public/private enterprises.

• The players are currently in like-minded initiatives trying to understand the real-world from their perspective.

• Major initiatives are:– WWRF, seeing the world from the perspective of the individual user (I-centric)– W3C, seeing the world from the perspective of the global and open WWW– 3GPP, seeing the world from the network perspective, i.e. allways connected to

some network offering services ”Anywhere”. Parlay is an innovative body making proposal for essential 3GPP standards for 3G and networks beyond.

– OASIS see the world from the perspective of private and public enterprices and proposed a lot of relevant standards in this field.

• Innovative and powerfull private companies like Microsoft, IBM, SAP, Oracle and others are building products that have strong impact on the development in this field. Of special interest here is the development of mobile services for work forces who are mobile and often out of office.
