When industry looks for more reliable and efficient ways tomove waste, they look to Gorman-Rupp self-priming centrifugalpumps. Gorman-Rupp has been manufacturing self-primingpumps since 1933. We have remained the standard by which allother pumps are judged.

Today, Gorman-Rupp pumps are the world’s leading choicefor waste handling in such industries as steel and paper mills, deep mines, food processing plants, appliance and automotivefactories, tanneries and wineries, and are also found in sewagehandling applications in municipalities worldwide. That’sbecause Gorman-Rupp pumps offer customers the performance, efficiency and reliability they can count on, day-in and day-out.

Our quality reputation has made Gorman-Rupp the world’sleader in self-priming centrifugal pumps. And it makes us yourbest solution – meeting all of your industrial or municipal wastehandling needs.

Self-Priming-the SuperiorSolution, for Several Reasons:

no special tools required

Gorman-Rupp solids handling, self-priming pumps help keep productivity high becausethey are designed for virtually clog-free performance. Solids handling pump models willhandle spherical solids up to 3" (76 mm) in diameter and allow solids to pass throughthe entire pump, not just the impeller. If a clog does occur, it can be eliminated quicklyand easily by opening the coverplate, removing the clog, and returning the pump tonormal operation, all in just a few minutes’ time.

Because Gorman-Rupp centrifugal pumps are self-priming, they can bemounted high and dry at floor level, with only the suction line down inthe liquid. Service or maintenance can be performed quickly and simplywith common hand tools and without having to pull the pump. Thereare no long drive shafts to install and align, no hoists or cranes required, and no need for service personnel to enter the sump.

Our solids handling pump models are designed to make servicing a fast, simpleand cost-efficient process. The removable coverplate allows for convenientinspection or service of the impeller, seal and wearplate, with no special toolsrequired. If the pump shaft or bearings need service, the entire rotating assemblycan be removed without disturbing the pump casing or piping. Plus, the rotatingassembly is sealed with an O-ring which permits external clearance adjustments.

Self-priming pumps are a sensible solution for industry and municipalities because theyrequire very little attention, resulting in significant savings of maintenance time andmoney. Properly applied and installed, and after an initial priming, Gorman-Rupp pumpswill continue to reprime automatically. In fact, T Series™ pumps will reprime with only apartially filled pump casing and a completely dry suction line.

Self-Priming-the SuperiorSolution, for Several Reasons:

2. Clogging is kept to a minimum, so downtime is virtually eliminated

3. Service is simple, fast and economical

4. Automatic priming means dependable performance

1. High and dry mounting for fast and easy service and maintenance

U Series® pumps are among the most efficient self-priming,solids-handling pumps available. Their unique hydraulicdesign and smooth wall volute casing minimize friction lossand drag. Multi-vane, open impeller is designed for high efficiency yet can still handle solids up to 1-1/4" (31 mm) indiameter. These pumps not only deliver high efficiencies (up to 75%), they also perform efficiently across a broadoperating range. Varying machine loads which cause pumpto operate left or right of its best efficiency point on theoperating curve will reduce operating efficiency by only avery small percentage. Pumps are available in two differentdesign versions, “A” version or “B” version.

The 80 Series® is a high efficiency pump designed for non-stop work loads. The straight-in suction design guarantees quick, positive self-priming and allows the pump to operate at higher suction levels than most otherself-priming centrifugal pumps.

Liquid enters directly into the impeller eye. Suction flap valve prevents return flow when the pump is shut off.

The simple 80 Series® design employs few moving parts,so maintenance and service are minimal.
