I joined Slimming World in 2006,follow-ing a heart attack and being diagnosed with a serious heart condition.At the time I weighed 17.5stone and panicked when my Cardiologist told me I had to lose weight or die.Very much lump in the throat time but it was the wake up call I needed.Knowing I had tried every diet going with no success I was very sceptical when my daughter suggested we both join Slimming World and lose weight together.Wow, what a life chang-ing decision.I lost 6 stone over the next 18 mths,not by dieting but by follow-ing a healthy eating plan.Losing weight had never been so easy. Coming from a medical background,I’m a retired state registered nurse,I knew I just had to get out there and show other overweight people how to achieve a healthier,happier,slimmer life.I became a Consultant on 2007 and since then have had groups in Derbyshire and following moving to Roecliffe I was lucky to be offered the Wetherby Slimming World Groups.Since taking over the groups we have grown in numbers as more and more people,both men,women and young adults,have taken a huge step in changing their lives for the better and I’m very proud to say I have been part of that suc-cess.Being an overweight person, pre- slimming world, I can totally empathise with my members and understand the way life can get in the way from time

to time but there are no judgements at group,just help and support.If you want to have the same chance as me and my 160 members then please come along to group.We run every monday,including bank holidays,at the St Jame’s Church centre,Church St @ 9.40am,5.30pm and 7.30pm.A warm welcome awaits you.
