Jaret Llewellyns Road to RecoveryAt age 42, exactly 20 years afterbreaking his rst world record, JaretLlewellyn is looking to make a comeback athe 2013 world championships in SantiagoChile, at the end of this year. Since 2010,however, he has been struggling off andon with some serious injuries. This year,Llewellyn was coming back strong, withsome impressive overall scores of 225feet in jump, 10,650 points in trick, and
running 38 off in slalom. His goal wasto be strong and ready for the worlds, but an unfortunate jump crash out thefront in practice has set him back a step. Can we still expect to see Llewellyn asone of the top overall contenders at theWorlds in November? Go to this linkto read on: http://waterskimag.com/features/2013/06/23/jaret-llewellyns-road-to-recovery/
No Cable Parks in Alberta
A cable park features a permanentoverhead cable system to pull water ski/
wakeboard riders via an electric motor, asopposed to being towed behind a boat asin the traditional version of the sport. Ofcourse like most new things; everyone hastheir opinion about it.
Cable skiing/wakeboarding is popular inEurope, and is slowly gaining popularity inNorth America. There are only a handfulof cable facilities in Canada. Winnipeg,Manitoba being one of them! The creationof the cable park is simplifying watersportbecause now we no longer need a driver, aspotter or gas money. As a result makingthe sports we love more accessible to morepeople.
Training and ResourcesTips from the ProsJeff Langleyexcerpted from Wakeworld
Jeff Langley has been sneaking onto the pro wake scene with huge wake-to-wake airand crazy tricks. Originally from Rome, Georgia but currently lives in Orlando, Floridalike many watersports athletes. He will be here in Alberta July 15-19th to coach at theElite Wakeboard Training Camp at Lake Isle.
On making a Career out of Wakeboarding: I never really decided I was going tobe a pro wakeboarder. I was bouncing back and forth from Georgia and Florida withrandom jobs and realized that I wasnt happy without warm weather and wakeboarding.
Then I found myself wakeboarding more than anything else and it nally happened.
Favorite Tournament: Brostock!
Coolest place travelled for Wakeboarding: Asia
Preferred Rope Length & speed: 75 & 23 mph
Words of wisdom: For every amateur wakeboard just one tip to improve their ridingwould be to learn it switch and keep it fun!
If youd like to ride with Jeff, there are still spaces available but they are lling up fast.Call the Shawn Gratzfeld at 780-964-7433 to register. Go to the following link to checkout Jeffs skills: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPue66pXqJ4
