SecureZIP users can send secure messages directly to recipients from the client, or via the SecureZIP Mail Gateway portal to automatically protect messages based on domain, keyword, or name of the recipient. Receive Secure Emails Effortlessly, within any EnvironmentRecipients can access secure messages anywhere, either with the SecureZIP desktop client, or via the SecureZIP Mail Gateway portal. End-to-End Encryption, Maximum SecuritySome communications require the utmost of protection, such as corporate financial data, PII, etc. SecureZIP for Windows and SecureZIP Mail Gateway support this with complete end-to-end, PC-to-PC data protection. Together, they protect sensitive data using strong encryption, ensuring data privacy using passphrases, public keys, or both. To take advantage of end-to-end encryption, providing maximum data security, both the sender and recipient must have a SecureZIP-compliant application installed.

Encrypted Message, Recipient does not have SecureZIPWhen a sender encrypts a message directly from their PC, but the recipient(s) does not have SecureZIP, the message can be halted at the perimeter. With appropriate policies in place, Contingency Key processing then decrypts the message and stores a copy at the perimeter. A notification message is sent to the recipient that they have a secure message. The recipient can then download the software or retrieve the message from the SecureZIP Mail Gateway Portal using a passphrase.

Clear Text Inside the Perimeter, Encrypted When OutsideWhen policies or practices require that email transit “in the clear” from the sender to pe-rimeter (e.g., support of archiving for eDiscovery), the Gateway can encrypt the email, including any attachments, using the public key of each recipient. The original email containing sensitive information is placed in an encrypted ZIP archive and attached to a carrier message that delivers it directly to the intended recipient(s). The recipient(s) decrypts the encrypted ZIP archive using their private key and any SecureZIP-compli-ant application.

Clear Text Inside the Perimeter, Held for Secure Pick-upAlthough SecureZIP is free for non-commercial use and the ZIP Reader is available to anyone at no cost, some recipients may not yet have a SecureZIP-compliant application installed. When this is the case, the email and any attachments are intercepted at the perimeter and held securely while the recipient receives a notification email that a sensitive message is waiting. The notification message includes a link directing them to the SecureZIP Mail Gateway Portal where, after the user is authenticated, the original email can be read. The notification message also informs the recipient how a free copy of a SecureZIP-compliant application can be obtained for future use.

Integrates with All Major Content FiltersSecureZIP Mail Gateway allows users to indicate which emails should be protected. With a single click within the Microsoft Outlook interface, users can ensure that sensitive information is encrypted. To ensure that all data is encrypted according to corporate policies, organizations can add automated content inspection as an additional safeguard. Recognizing this need, the “Gateway” integrates with any popular content filters that support smart host routing, such as Websense®. The Gateway acts as a mail transfer agent (MTA), accepting emails as a data stream via simplified mail transport protocol (SMTP).
