HOW IT ALL BEGANThe Book of Genesis
Where did everything come from? How did we get here? These are not trivial questions, and the answers we find can have a great influence on all of our lives. If we make a mistake about the beginning of life, we can easily be mistaken about the end. Throughout this quarter, we will be studying from the book of Genesis about the beginning of things. The Bible is not a historical book, a scientific book or a geological book; when we read about such things, we are reading the truth. Our study is based on the fact that the Word of God is true. The Bible does not need to be proven; it needs to be believed. As we look into what the Bible teaches about the beginning of the world and the creatures that live on it, we will see the truth.
WHAT BAPTISTS BELIEVEDoctrines That Make a Difference
Our perspective greatly influences everything we see. If you were on a mountaintop looking down, you would get quite a different view than if you were deep in a valley looking up. This is as true spiritually as it is physically. What we believe influences our perspective on the world. In this study, teens will see what Baptists believe by looking at the topics that set Baptists apart and define who they are. We call those teachings, doctrine. Doctrine influences perspective or how we view the world around us. Your viewpoint makes a real difference in your life. It will influence how you treat Christ and how you treat other people.
JESUS OUR LORD Building a Strong Relationship with Christ
During His ministry, Jesus established the principles of the kingdom of God. Jesus instituted His church, and He proved repeatedly that He was the Son of God. In the short time Jesus was on the earth, He permanently changed the world. Literally, the world has never been the same since Jesus came, but among all the wonderful things Jesus did, there was one overriding purpose in His life. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. His primary mission was the salvation of men. This is the reason Jesus lived, was buried and rose again. As we learn all we can from the Scriptures about Christ, we can develop a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Him. Since Jesus wants us to know Him, we are given significant information about Christ in the Bible.
WORSHIP GONE WRONG A Bible Study of False Doctrines
Taking a different approach to false doctrines this study looks at some of the underlying causes and conditions of false doctrine. Satan is a deceiver. He keeps telling the same old lies over and over. If we can learn how he works, we can avoid his lies no matter how they maybe presented. One thing is certain, as long as this present age continues, there will be false doctrine. This has happened throughout the church age and it is still happening today. Consequently, what you believe makes a real difference in your life. Satan might try to sell you on the idea that it really doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere. This is an outright lie. These false concepts will change the way you behave. It is important that you know the truth and that you believe the truth. What you believe does make a difference.
Fall Quarter 2020 Winter Quarter 2020-2021 Spring Quarter 2021 Summer Quarter 2021
CHRISTIAN JOYHappiness in the Lord
God wants us to be happy. It is not God’s will that anyone perish, and it is not God’s will that we live spiritually deficient lives. God’s will is for His children to have spiritually abundant lives. But there are other wills at work in our world. There is the will of the devil. Then, there is the will of mankind. God wants us to have full joy, and He offers us these profound rules that will lead to real happiness. This joy is not the temporary laughter of a foolish world. There are many things that can make us laugh for a moment, but the things mentioned here will bring us permanent joy. These are spiritual things. Too often our world tends to think of Christians as hypercritical people who do not enjoy life. It seems as if the Bible forbids anything that most people think of as fun. The truth is that no one has more potential for happiness than a Christian, and no one is more miserable than those who do not know Christ.
THE BIBLE IN TODAY’S WORLD Beliefs for Everyday Life
Many seem to think of the Bible as a book of history that deals with people and events long ago or as a book of mysteries that no one can really understand. Still others regard it as a book about life in the future, about Heaven and hell and the things that will happen to us when we die. Although the Bible does refer to all these subjects, it is also a practical book that helps us deal with the people and problems we face each day. Not only will we see the practicality of the Scriptures, but we will also see how the real problems we face haven’t changed significantly over the years. No matter how bad our circumstances may be, we can serve the Lord, and the Lord can use us as His witnesses.
APPLIED CHRISTIANITY Studies in James
As we study the life of James, we will see how he applied many of the lessons God gave him in his own personal life. We will also learn some things about the process of inspiration. This study from the book of James focuses on the application of the principles of Christianity to real-life situations. In many ways this is the real goal of all our beliefs. Jesus knows that we will encounter troubles and problems in our lives. He alone gives us the truth that we need to deal with these challenges. This study encourages students to take an honest look at the circumstances of the world and of their lives. Trials will come to all of us, and we need to know how to handle them. Only God’s Word provides this information for us.
MORAL PURITY Behaving According to God’s Standards
You will learn some practical ideas that you can put into practice in your everyday living. As there are standards for the physical things in our lives, there are also standards for our behavior. Right is right and wrong is wrong. It’s never right to do wrong and it’s never wrong to do right, but, to do right, we must know what the standards are. We need to know for ourselves how we should behave. The Bible is our only reliable and never-failing guide to our personal and corporate behavior. Ultimately, we will not be judged by others. Judgment is not a jury trial. We will be judged by the standards of God’s Word. This is why we need to learn what is right as well as what is wrong. We all have choices to make, and, when we have the proper understanding of morality, we can make the right choice.
Fall Quarter 2021 Winter Quarter 2021-2022 Spring Quarter 2022 Summer Quarter 2022
MAKING MY CHOICESA Life Governed by the Holy Spirit
In this study we will be looking at good and bad choices and learning how to make our choices within the will of God. God has given each of us the power of choice. Choice is the essence of intelligence and wisdom. It is the determiner for our future. What we are today is the product of the choices we have made in the past, and our future will depend on the choices we make today. The really sobering point here is that we must live with the choices we make. We all enjoy reaping the benefits of wise choices, but we must also live with the consequences of foolish choices. Often these consequences will involve others who themselves had no part in our particular choices. We will see many Bible characters who made choices, some of them good and some of them bad. Evaluate these examples and consider how your choices can change you and the world around you.
THE BIBLEWhat It Is, Where It Came From,
How To Understand ItAn introduction to the study of the Bible
In the minds of most people everything has a beginning, a middle and an end. This is the way we think. It helps us organize our thoughts and our lives. We can define confusion as not knowing these things. We see this easily when we are getting ready for school or studying for a test, but we might not see that God has a plan for our lives and that His plan is revealed through His Word. The plan of God has a beginning, a middle and an end. In all parts of His plan the Bible, the Word of God, is vital. The Word of God was in the beginning, and it will be in the end. We are wise if we will see that it is also in the middle. God’s Word is a message for you and me, and we need it right now. We can know what it says, and we can follow where it leads.
ATTAINING WISDOM Gaining the Foundations for Choice
Every day of your life you make choices and decisions. Some of these are small, and the consequences of the decisions are also small. However, some of your decisions will change your life permanently. First, you need to know what kind of decision you are making. Sometimes it’s not easy to tell; therefore, you need good information no matter what size decision you are making. This is where the Word of God comes in. Good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. Some people are crushed when trouble comes, but they don’t have to be. We can understand the place trouble has in our lives and accept the dark days for what they are, lessons to be learned so that we can help others. Understanding makes all the difference, and God wants us to understand His will, His Word and His way.
LIVING FOR CHRIST Your Life as a Disciple
Christians are to live as disciples of Christ. When a person is saved, it represents the beginning of the Christian life. Jesus compared being saved to being born again. Like the physical birth is the beginning of our earthly life, being saved is the beginning of our spiritual or eternal life. This study focuses on many of the basic and fundamental principles of applied Christianity. Students are encouraged to compare the things taught in the Bible with your own ideas about church work. We have many notions about how things are and about how they ought to be, but whenever the ideas of men conflict with the teachings of God, we must discard our ideas and accept the teaching of God’s Word.
