• Sci-Fi is the genre based on the main emphasis of the film, being all things science and fantasy.
• They are designed to entertain the audience or using escapism.
• These films usually contain CGI.
Typical Sci-Fi Characters
• The main character/s of the film are usually aliens, monsters, things to do with space.
• These are then sometimes contrasted with humans to show the difference between real life and fantasy.
Typical Sci-Fi Settings
• Most sci-fis are usually set in Space however it depends on the situation of the film
• For example, if the film is of a monsters attack it’ll be more likely to be set in a town rather then in space.

History
• Sci-fi films have been very popular since the 1900’s. With many staring in the horror genre such as Frankenstein.
• Nowadays, sci-fi still remains a popular genre, with all age groups due to family films but still attracts older age groups for its films.
• Sci-fi is also still popular with critics as one of the most recent Sci-fis Gravity came away from the 2014 Academy Awards with 7 Oscars.
