Dear Colleague
The Enfield Early Years annual training programme provides courses designed to support the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Training in all aspects of the EYFS is a fundamental part of professional development and Ofsted have an expectation that all practitioners have access to training to ensure their knowledge and practice is kept up to date and continues to develop and improve.
The courses are delivered by the local authority’s Early Years Childcare Team and colleagues across other services and agencies. Courses are continuously analysed, evaluated and developed to address training needs and to ensure that training delivered is responsive to changes in legislation and Ofsted requirements.

Early Years MembershipThe annual subscription per provider for the Early Years membership will run from January – December.The Early Years membership includes:ll Forumsll Job Vacancy Bulletinll Marketing material
The fee for joining the membership remains the same regardless of when you join:PVI: £55Childminders: £35
Early Years Training Course Booking and PaymentBookings are made on a first come first served basis.
Registered Providers, Out Of School Provisions and Childminders: Please request all training courses via the Provider Portal.
Proposed Providers, Out Of School Provisions and Proposed Childminders: Please request all training courses by emailing: [email protected]. Please include full course details including dates.
On receipt of a request, the training team will confirm a provisional booking (subject to availability). Instructions on how to make course payment will be included in the provisional booking email sent to you.
Once payment has been made you will receive a confirmation receipt from WorldPay containing the transaction ID which must be forwarded in full to [email protected]. We are unable to complete your booking unless you email the transaction ID. You will then be sent email confirmation of your booking and place on the course.
Failure to make payment and send receipt to the training team may result in your provisional booking being taken.
Course participants must take a printed or electronic copy of the

confirmation letter to the training course. If proof of payment cannot be confirmed the participant may be refused entry to the course.
General Charging PolicyPlease note payment must be made and the applicant’s place confirmed via email 48 hours before attending a course.
If a late payment has been made and all course places have been taken we will endeavour to book you onto the next available course. If there are no more courses available, we will issue a refund.
Payment for coursesCourses must be paid 48 hours in advance of the course date and will be charged at the standard rate. Participants must bring a printed or electronic copy of the confirmation letter to the training course. Participants who provisionally book and arrive on the day without having made payment will be charged the ‘on the day’ rate published in the manual. This would apply if there is means to accommodate you on the day, otherwise you will be turned away. Certificates will only be issued once payment has been made.
CancellationsWe operate a strict no refund policy for cancellations once payment has been received and a space confirmed. However providers may send a replacement participant. Please ensure you email [email protected] with any changes at least 24 hours before the course date. This is to ensure the trainer has sufficient time to compile registers and changes to certificates.

Cancellations by Local AuthorityIf the course is cancelled by the Local Authority we will endeavour to notify all participants in good time and either propose an alternative date or a credit to your account.

8 Early Years Annual Training Programme
Changes to Courses by Local AuthorityEvery attempt will be made to provide the training course or event as described in the training outline. However, where changes to the date, time or venue are made participants will be notified by email at the earliest opportunity.
AttendanceAll participants should arrive promptly to ensure the course can start on time. Late arrivals may not be allowed entry and is at the discretion of the trainer on the day.
We are unable to accommodate children at any of the training courses. Please ensure you have made alternative arrangements for children in your care on the day of the training courses.
Participants must bring confirmation of booking email on the first day of the course.
Participants booked to attend courses are requested to sign the attendance register upon arrival and must be available to attend for the duration of the session Please do not book a member of staff onto training if arrangements cannot be made to stay for the duration of the course.
Certificates may be issued for some training courses and will only be issued to participants who have attended the full duration of the training.
Course CertificatesCertificates of attendance will only be issued for statutory courses and to participants who have attended the full duration of the training course.
If a course certificate is required for attendance of non-statutory courses, a charge of £2.50 per certificate will apply. Payments must be made prior to a certificate being issued. Please ensure that you make payment when booking a place to attend the course so that the certificate can be distributed to you on the day.
Replacement certificates will only be issued for training courses delivered

by the Early Years Childcare Team. Certificates can only be issued within six months of the confirmed attendance date of the course. Please note payment must be made prior to a certificate being issued.
We are unable to provide replacement certificates for courses delivered by external training organisations commissioned to deliver courses on our behalf. Should you require a duplicate/ replacement certificate for such courses you will need to contact the training company directly.

For full day courses please make your own arrangements for lunch.

Course Content:Persona dolls Support young children to develop the opportunity to tackle discrimination and bullying in a supportive environment and to actively challenge stereotypes.
The training will enable practitioners to support young children to develop their emotional literacy skills and become actively involved in problem solving.
The training will: 1. Promote the importance of promoting equalities in Early Years2. Enable practitioners to understand how a Persona Doll can be used with

Course Content:This course will explore how practitioners can support children in critical thinking through play. This is often highlighted in Ofsted reports as an area for improvement.

Child Protection – Information about the course
All Child Protection courses provided by Enfield are Statutory training courses meeting the requirements for all staff teams.
Exploring Duty of Care in line with ESCB (Enfield Safeguarding Children’s Board) procedures – this training promotes understanding of national guidance and procedures.
The Child Protection training is structured into the following two courses:

Basic Level Child Protection
Who should attend:This training is for ALL individuals (including childminders and out of school provisions) who come into contact with children in their everyday work whether this is in a paid or unpaid capacity.
Course relates to: Ofsted Requirements, Section 3: The Safeguarding & Welfare Requirements, Points: 3.4, 3.5, 3.6.
Course Content:This course provides participants with an overview of safeguarding and child protection, including:
ll The categories of abuse and how to recognise signs and symptoms of abuse.ll The relevant legislation and guidance and the role of Enfield Safeguarding
Children’s Board (ESCB).
Course Objective:By the end of the training, practitioners will:ll Have developed an awareness of and an ability to act on concerns about
the safety and welfare of children in line with current legislationll An awareness of national and local procedures to be followed, including
the ways in which information is shared across professional boundaries and recorded appropriatelyll An awareness of safe practice and the procedures for dealing with
allegations against staffll The ability to identify current legislation which informs existing early years
practice in protecting children from harmll Name and describe the possible signs and indicators of abuse in children
under five in order to respond appropriately, following the national and local guidelines of child protection procedures
You do not need to attend this course if you have attended Child Protection training in the last 3 years.

Course Content:Five to Thrive is an approach to support the children’s workforce to develop the skills and knowledge to work with families. Through the training practitioners learn the skills to build parental capacity by increasing their understanding of the emotional development of their baby.
The approach is built upon the emerging evidence about neuro-science and baby’s brain development. It is a systemic approach to early intervention and positive parenting. It identifies the key parental activities contributing to brain development and promotes confident, reflective parenting. It enables practitioners to teach and model mindful interactions.
