Supporting with new/revised policies and guidance

We provide general information, advice, guidance and support on school workforce statutory duties and procedures. We continually review our guidance when new initiatives are introduced by the government so that you are fully updated. We can review your existing documents or provide you with guidance in order to update your existing policies/ procedures as appropriate.

Restructuring/review of structures

Key to a successful school is an annual review of staffing structures and the development of roles to meet the challenges of change and expansion. We research and offer examples of best practice when you are considering staffing reviews and reorganisations. We will provide the opportunity to discuss different structures and look at the pros and cons before moving into the formal stages of consulting with governors, your human resources provider and staff.

Review of roles and responsibilities and rewriting job descriptions or writing bespoke job roles

Succession planning and development of senior/middle leaders

Succession planning should be at the core of any school development plan. Retaining teachers in this challenging recruitment market and ensuring that they are developed to undertake more senior roles within schools is essential part of providing stability and developing high quality future leaders, including headteachers. Support from our team can aide you with planning for and effecting strategies in your school so that you are best placed to secure future needs.

Recruiting a new SBM can be time consuming and expensive. We can offer support in the recruitment process as well as providing you with or recommending interview questions and tests. Once you have appointed your new school business manager we can support with their induction and support both you and your business manager in their new role.

Appraisals/performance management for teachers and support staff

The school’s whole school appraisal process is important in identifying specific training needs, promoting staff development as well as helping staff to understand their role in achieving the school’s priorities. Our team can support schools to ensure the process is rigorous for both teachers and support staff and follows regulations and guidance. We have a range of templates and we provide workshops for both appraisers and the appraisees.

Staffing audits/review of working administrative practices

As schools expand or need to review their staffing to meet the demands of the 21st century school you may benefit from a staff audit review. This can include interviews with staff, observations, review of job descriptions and training needs analysis. This will identify next steps.
