Children in Foundation- Year 6 begin the 2018 school year on Tuesday 30 th January. Staff news Mrs. Fuller will be leaving Glenroy West Primary School at the end of 2017, to seek leadership opportunities at another school in 2018. On behalf of the School Council, students and staff, I would like to personally thank Mrs. Fuller for her wonderful assistance and support throughout the last 18 months. The students, staff and parents will certainly join me in wishing Mrs. Fuller all the best for the future and the success that the new role will bring. All the best Emma and we hope you enjoy your new position. Pam and Staff Kinder visits Our 2018 preps visited their classrooms on Tuesday as part of their transition process into school. The children met their new teacher and began making friends. We look forward to meeting all our families next year.

Christmas Celebrations Stall-Friday 15th December Don’t miss out. Christmas gifts available from $1.00-$2.00 on Friday 15th December. Year 6 Graduation Ceremony- Monday 18th December Our special night for the year 6 students will be conducted in the Hall at school. The evening commences at 6.00pm sharp. Tickets are now available. Glenroy West Primary School internal transition day –Wednesday 20th December This is the day when the children Years P-5 will meet their new teacher (where possible) and meet the children they will be with in their new 2018 classes. The children will spend the majority of their day in their new classrooms. This is part of our transition program to help children feel relaxed about their teacher and class group before the holiday period. A significant amount of time has been put into balancing he grades. Considerations for grades include gender, special needs, staffing, academic achievement and a friend. 2018 School Fees Parents and guardians are welcome to pay for book packs and fees or make part payments before the 22nd December. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Class Parties Classes will hold break up parties on Wednesday 20th December. In order to provide some balance in what is brought to school, teachers will make requests for certain types of foods avoiding large quantities of fatty and sugary foods being brought. We thank you for your support. Any allergies or dietary requirements please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Reminder about our last day assembly and dismissal Children will be dismissed from their classrooms on December 22nd at 1.30pm for the term 4 holidays. This will follow our whole school assembly in the hall beginning at 12.45pm

Parents and friends are most welcome to join us. Christmas Carols & School Picnic- Thursday 21ST December,2017 Students will be performing their Christmas Carols in the Hall after swimming on Thursday 21st December. This will be followed by the School Picnic in the afternoon. Hopefully, Santa may make a quick visit to say ‘hello’ to the girls and boys. We would love to see parents, grandparents and friends come along Ho Ho Ho!

Chess club Chess Club has concluded for the 2017 year. Thank you to Endre for training and coaching children across the school. An increasing number of children have expressed interest in learning the skills of chess which helps improve memory, concentration, and develops logical thinking and also promoting imagination and creativity. We hope to continue this program next year. Reports Student end of year reports will be available to view online on COMPASS on the afternoon of December 18th. The reports will reflect the last 6 months in English, mathematics, health and physical education, visual arts, Indonesian language learning and the last learning inquiry update. Parents will need to use their password which was released earlier this year. Each student will be bringing home their individual portfolio for the family to enjoy over the holiday period. We would appreciate the white folders to be returned for the following year. Thankyou. School Uniform and Policy A reminder that a school uniform at Glenroy West Primary School is compulsory and all students are expected to wear a full uniform at all times. A consistent school uniform creates a sense of collective and individual pride in students and their identification with the school. Students must wear their uniform whilst:

During school hours( unless specified)

When engaged in school activities out of school hours or when representing the

school

Sporting events, including Interschool sport and representative teams

School photo days

Attending all excursions
