Additional Learning Support
If a student requires additional learning support, we have a dedicated team who can agree a tailored support plan.
We support students linked to a wide range of conditions including dyslexia, attention disorders, autistic spectrum conditions, mental health difficulties, medical conditions and physical or sensory disabilities.
Our aim is to ensure we do everything we can to help your students make the most of their time at College and be successful in their studies.
It is a requirement that each student attends an interview to determine suitability for the programme with a parent or carer where possible, and attend a further interview with the Additional Learning Support Team where required.
We ask that schools provide all relevant information such as behavioural issues, reduced timetable details, required
support due to a disability or medical condition and current educational attainment to the school partnerships team prior to, or at the point of, the student’s interview. This includes providing a copy of their most recent education, health and care plan (EHCP) for those students that have one.
Our dedicated and specialist teams will then support students by assessing their learning and educational needs and agreeing a support plan. This may include adjustments to teaching, one-to-one support, workshops, smaller class sizes and assistive technology. We also offer special arrangements for exams and assessments.
The school must pay agreed costs for additional learning support to be provided by College, or provide support for all students attending College who receive support in school or are identified as needing support.
