The aim of the „School of Leadership“ is to gather the existing expertise and knowledge of the ULI

members at leadership level at the EBS European Business School. The challenges of the program

are summarized in the following three aspects:

to offer a Leadership School at Executive Education level to increase member interaction as

well as promote personal professional development.

to seek a standardization of knowledge and sensitivity in leadership areas amongst the

participants which are coming with different professional backgrounds and previous academic

experiences.

to adapt the regular course curricula of real estate economics to the particular ULI targets.

The „ULI School of Leadership powered by EBS“ demonstrates that ULI Germany

belongs to the leading real estate institutions and is directly involved in the continuous

development of its members along the complete professional cycle from management to

consultancy, from trainee, analysts or junior managers up to CEO and leading positions

such as senior consultant or partner. Recent surveys from renowned organizations

(Harvard Business Manager, CRF Institute, Die Welt) have shown that this approach

reflects the expectations professionals are placing towards institutions and employees.

The EBS enjoys an high standing and recognition amongst the real estate and the

financial industries across Germany. The new cooperation will enhance reputation for both

institutions particularly amongst the professional environment of real estate specialists.

The EBS real estate department has grown continuously since 2009 and is one of the

fastest growing real estate research institutions in Europe. This delivers the basis for

academic excellence in professional development of employees at higher organizational

managerial levels.

The EBS Business School is one out of four German

Business Schools to hold a EQUIS accreditation (along

with WHU, Mannheim and Köln).

Format and length of the program / duration of the individual modules

• The executive education program „ULI School of Leadership“ concentrates on the

transmission of leadership knowledge as well as skills to junior and senior managers with a

focus on instruments of corporate leadership.

• The ULI Leadership School invites delegates from across Europe to participate. The number of

participants is limited to 18. Registration follows an acceptance selection process based on

previous qualifications and in the order of entered submissions.

• During this 3-day seminar EBS will convey participants leadership skills and instruments in

seminars as well as interactively; the format includes open discussions and round tables

between managers and leaders as well as lectures . The program will be held in English

language.

• On the first evening there will be a keynote speech delivered by a leading thinker of real estate

followed by a group discussion.

III Program Design and Format

Small group format

• Max. participants of the seminar will be 18

• Target group: managers and young leader senior executives from Europe

• 3 to 5 years management experience in a managerial/leading position required to participate

Academic staff

• EBS instructors are experts from the academic university realm and/or leading experts in the

professional real estate industry.

• Language of lectures, discussions and distributed materials will be English.

Certificate

• The program follows a three year plan: after attending for three consecutive years the ULI

School of Leadership participants will get a 6-ECTS-Modul-Degree in „Leadership“ from the

EBS. The ECTS Points can be incorporated towards acquisition of a further executive program

such as a Masters in Real Investment & Finance.

• Participants will receive a participation certificate for attendance of the individual yearly „ULI

School of Leadership“ programs from the EBS.

Dr. Nico B. Rottke is full professor in the

department of finance, accounting and

real estate and holds the Endowed Chair

of Real Estate Investment & Finance at

the EBS Business School. He also serves

as a faculty member and adjunct

professor at the UCF University of

Central Florida in Orlando, FL.

He is the founder and executive director

of the Real Estate Management Institute

(REMI) of the EBS Business School.

Prior to his teaching and research

activities, he worked in the real estate

industry in the area of high-yield

investment.

Nico Rottke holds an MSc-degree in Real

Estate from Georgia State University,

Atlanta, serves as a Fellow (FRICS) for

the Royal Institution of Chartered

Surveyors (RICS), and as a Counselor

(CRE) for “The Counselors of Real

Estate”. He holds a degree in business

administration from EBS where he also

obtained his Ph.D.- and habil.-degree.

Mr. Rottke is active in real estate

research societies worldwide, serves the

industry in supervisory board positions as

well as the Urban Land Institute (ULI)

Germany as a member of the executive
