WHAT KIND OF TEACHER IS A GOOD FIT FOR THE PROGRAM?

"The DTiR Program honors excellence in teaching in the K-12 classroom. Distinguished Teachers are not administrators but rather practicing classroom teachers. DTiRs are "distinguished" by their exceptionally high quality practice as classroom teachers.”

–Dr. Elizabeth Garza

"I believe a good fit for the program is a teacher that has a well-rounded background in public education, particularly someone who has teaching experiences with diverse populations and who is at the forefront of educational pedagogy in his/her professional career. It also requires someone who can make the instructional transition from K-12 environment to teaching adults in higher education.”

–Dr. Ana Hernandez, DTiR 2006-2008
