School Evaluation - Parent Survey The staff have been working hard over the last few weeks to evaluate our school plan. We have been using the School Excellence Framework to map our progress towards our targets and gathering the evidence to support our decisions. This is an important process to engage in so that we are ensuring the best possible educational outcomes for the students. We value the input of our parents in this process and urge you to click on the link below and answer some questions to further support our decision making. The survey will be open until Friday 14 th December. https://goo.gl/forms/AIWWVUBbOT7sX2Cx1 End of Year Celebrations Traditionally, we have had three separate events to acknowledge the achievements of our students which have been the School Service Assembly, Presentation Day and the Sports Assembly. The students who participated in the Premiers Reading Challenge, Debating Teams, Library Monitors, Environmental Program, Premiers Spelling Bee and Public Speaking are acknowledged at the time of the event throughout the year but have again been formally acknowledged at the School Service Assembly. This year these students will receive certificates as part of the normal Monday assembly on the 10 th December at 12:30 instead of holding a separate School Service Assembly. Parents are welcome to attend if they wish. Notes have been posted home today to the parents of students who are receiving awards at the Sports Presentation or on Presentation Day. We apologise for the delay in this process. School Traffic Please remember to obey the parking signs around the school during drop off and pick up times. This ensures that the children are safe and that our neighbours have the appropriate access to their properties. Tuesday 4th December 2018

End of Year Celebrations Traditionally, we have had three separate events to acknowledge the achievements of our students which have been the School Service Assembly, Presentation Day and the Sports Assembly. The students who participated in the Premiers Reading Challenge, Debating Teams, Library Monitors, Environmental Program, Premiers Spelling Bee and Public Speaking are acknowledged at the time of the event throughout the year but have again been formally acknowledged at the School Service Assembly. This year these students will receive certificates as part of the normal Monday assembly on the 10th December at 12:30 instead of holding a separate School Service Assembly.

Classes 2019 The staff are working on the class structures for 2019 and we therefore need confirmation of student enrolments to ensure accuracy. If your child will not be attending CEPS in 2019, and likewise if you know of someone who has moved into our area and will be joining us, please advise the office as soon as possible. If you have genuine reasons for recommending a particular class placement for your child next year, this needs to be put in writing and addressed to myself. We will try our best to accommodate requests but this is not always possible.

Service Learning Program A small group of students from Whitebridge High School will be assisting at our school from next week as part of the Service Learning Program. ‘This is a teaching method where guided or classroom learning is deepened through service to others in a process that provides structured time for reflection on the service experience, and demonstration of the skills and knowledge required.’ These students will assist with organised play time activities and provide support to the teachers and the students in classrooms.

Awards As the year is very quickly drawing to a close, the weekly student awards have finished for the year. If your child has 5 Gold Principal Awards, they must be handed in to the office no later than Wednesday 5th December to ensure they are included in Presentation Day. I am looking forward to the Term 4 Principal’s lunch on Monday.

Have a great week everyone!

Michelle Unterrheiner Principal

BANKING REMINDER Next week , Tuesday 11th December, will be the final banking day for 2018. Well done to all those who have saved hard this year. Thank you to our wonderful banking volunteers for faithfully processing the deposits every week.

In my chats with parents in the playground, it seems many people are under the impression that the P&C is a bit scary and very serious. Well, I don't think we're particularly scary, but certainly there are serious aspects. You have placed your trust in us when donating money, and from next year's first newsletter, the committees that make up the P&C (garden, uniform shop, canteen and fundraising committee) will start reporting to you directly with all the stats, goals and plans for 2019. So, in the interest of getting us all in the mood for some serious facts and figures, today I give you.....

A case study: I'd like to introduce to you P&C member no. 235. Because we're being totally serious and scientific, I can't reveal her identity. So I shall call her “Gertrude”. Gertrude wishes to let you know that helping out at school can be done in many ways and doesn't need to suit only those of us lucky enough to have lots of free time. Gertrude's husband works shift work, with a roster that changes frequently. This makes it very difficult for her to attend monthly meetings (sigh...poor Gertrude.) Gertrude also has a young child at home, and although he is perfectly well-behaved at all times like all of our children, this makes it difficult for her to help out in the canteen or uniform shop. Despite these facts, volunteering is important to Gertrude and she has found ways to help out behind the scenes. These have included:

• designing and producing the amazing signage and posters used by the P&C for events and to help train volunteers in the canteen

• collecting, sorting and storing clothes for the second hand clothes stall held in 2017 (not to mention setting up the night before and helping out on the day)

• making fabulous craft items for the Home-made/Home-grown stall at the 2017 Christmas movie night and staying back to help clean up and pack away afterwards and

• putting her hand up for Bunnings BBQs. Conclusion: Gertrude is seriously cool. Rebecca Howard (Totally serious member of CEPS P&C)

Thank you to everyone who ordered “Santa’s Ho Ho Ho” meal deal, which is on this Thursday 6th December. Remember NO lunch orders available on this day only meal deals. Finger buns and brownie slice will be available at recess $2.00 and ice cream cups at lunch for $1.50. Limited stock of each available.

Our last canteen order day will be Friday 7th December. As we head towards the end of the school year, our stocks are now running low and some stock will be unavailable. As of today we are out of vegetable patties, so there will not be cheese burgers or CEPS burgers available. I will keep everyone up to date on the App and Facebook page.

Term 1 roster for 2019 is almost finished. It will be sent home next week. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered.

We have added a few new items to the menu next year and have made a few changes to pricing etc for 2019. New menus will go home first week Term 1.

Our garden is looking very Christmassy after 2S spent an afternoon making decorations and adding a festive twist! Giant candy canes, hanging stars and "Bob" the Snowman have found a home in our outdoor classroom. Thanks to Mrs Skaug and her merry bunch of elves for their enthusiasm and creative spirit.

Our crops of lettuce, tomatoes, beans, cucumbers and zucchinis are well established but will need some TLC as the weather warms up. Anyone who has a spare hour or two over the holidays to water the garden would be most welcome to join our summer roster. Please email [email protected]

The Uniform Shop is undergoing some changes as the end of term approaches. As we approach the start date of our renovations we are looking to move the last of our old stock. We have white logo'd polos available in sizes 4, 8, 10, 12 & 14, the only difference in these shirts is they have 2 instead of 3 buttons and they are available at a bargain price of $15. Old style blue sports shorts also available at $15! Only limited amounts of each left so get in fast!! We will be open this Tuesday 4th December from 2:50pm at the Uniform Shop whilst the school markets are on under the cola. Come and visit us, say hi to the new team and get your uniforms ready for next year! The last dates the Uniform Shop will be open this year are: • Thursday 13th December @ 2:30pm • Friday 14th December @ 8:30am • Monday 17th December - LAST DAY OF UNIFORM SHOP (open before & after school) Remember if your child has outgrown any logo'd uniforms you can always donate them to the second hand uniform stock and they will go to great use! Please hand your donations in to the school office. Second hand uniforms are available on sale at all monthly school markets. We love seeing our uniform worn with such pride. Thank you for supporting uniformity across our playground. Uniform Committee
