1. To help you understand our school business better, we will briefly describe our school (e.g. age of the students; location; environment).

Our school, Ahlcon International is situated in the suburbs of Mayur Vihar in East Delhi, in a thickly populated area of people and plants alike. It continues to claim its position as one of the best school of Delhi NCR, due to its kinship over multifaceted areas of excellence.

The students belonging, to classes Nursery-12th are between the ages of 4-18. These 2500 students with their young minds and impactful zeal have always contributed to the growth of Ahlcon.

The environment of the school is inhabited by various trees and plants, which are looked after by our school gardener. The students also actively take part in cultivating them, and spend quite a lot of time researching about them.

Section C: Our School Business Experience

2. Here is a brief description of the school business we ran before/are currently running, including the products/services we sold/are selling.

A wide assortment of products and articles are sold, consisting of cards, photo frames, cakes and brownies, which are developed by the school staff and students.

Paper bags are made from the recycled paper available from our School Recycling unit, which utilizes the waste paper consumed in classrooms and offices.

Envelopes and packaging material are fashioned from cast-off milk cartons. Tailor-made flower bouquets and plant samplings are constructed from home grown variety of flowers

that are plucked in front of the customers from the small patch of land within the school premises. They are sold in used Pet bottle vases made by our creative team.

We sold clay artifacts prepared by our art and craft students which display their creative abilities and critical analysis of the market.

Students also contribute in raising discarded material, which are further employed in the making of wall hangings, pictures and artwork.

Section D: Our Resources

3. Considering our school’s physical resources, skills and location, these are the resources available at our school we can use to develop our business:

PHYSICAL RESOURCESa. Paper bins are maintained at every corner of the school premises, including in every classroom, which

helps us collect the waste paper.b. The copious amount of waste paper amassed is recycled to make handmade sheets, new sheets of paper

for its employability by the school staff and students for other activities.c. While the school ground is covered with a wide variety of plants, a patch of land has also been cultivated

for growing saplings and flowers for our sales.d. We have two full-size rooms dedicated to sculpture and artistic talents of our students, which have given

rise to many of our products like paintings, cards, gift packing material and clay artefacts.e. A school confectionary is located in the campus, for teaching cooking to interested students. A lot of

eatables like cakes and brownies are also developed here.

SKILLSa. Students have cultivated their interests in various arenas of excellence, such as critical thinking, business

administration, art and craft as well as event management. They promote the school enterprise by creating our goods as well as effectively co-ordinating our sales and revenue.

b. Our teachers have also been significant in the success of this initiative, as they have guided and mentored students with their vast knowledge and experience in the field of commerce and business.

LOCATION

Within half a kilometre from our school, there is an educational centre for differently-abled students where we can conduct our workshops. This has surely made a difference in their lives and made them self-dependent.Our school is located in a thickly populated residential area and nearby community members are our customers.Various institutions, like other schools and information centres are located near our school, with whom we can collaborate to spread our idea.

Section E: Brainstorming Business Ideas

4. a) These are the five business ideas we thought of when brainstorming new idea or a way of diversifying or growing the existing one:

We aim to begin an initiative focussing on the estranged senior citizens who live away from their families in old age homes and orphanages. We plan to set up a business, where our volunteers spend time with senior citizens and our customers will be their adult children who feel guilty that they are too busy with their lives to spend time with their parents. We will name this service as Befriend - Be a Friend.

Our second business idea consists of collecting books donated by our School students which we plan to further sell to needy students in our market area at discounted prices. This will save paper and will also assist those people who can’t afford to purchase new books. This can also be a part of Befriend - Be a Friend.

Our school has a host of brilliant writers, who can form an association and volunteer as content writers for various interested firms and companies, in return they will be remunerated.

Our school’s Financial Literacy Club has a group of enthusiastic students who are willing to give workshops across schools. They will be paid by the hosting school in return.

We also can provide a platform for talented painters, photographers, musicians by holding shows for them.

b) The business we chose for our Silver Award is: ____ Befriend - Be a Friend_ ________

And these are 3 reasons why we chose this idea:

Our main reason to go for this idea was to solve the problems our senior people face. Spending time with a young person who will play memory games with them, will help them regain their losing memory and rejuvenate them.

This initiative targets at the moral upbringing of our generation, which often doesn’t spend quality time with their old parents. We desire to bring a change in the lives of these senior citizens, by spending time with them.

Another reason we aim to build this project is to help the young volunteers understand the necessity of frequenting their old grandparents they are estranged from. This will bring a positive impact on their mind set and temperament.

Our final Business Idea will be sustainable and have a positive impact on the environment and our community because:

We are trying to make our school Business a social enterpriseOur business enterprise will have a positive influence on our community and environment in various ways:

We want to inspire a generation of young people to become socially and environmentally responsible entrepreneurs – to understand the necessity of community service, and the vitality of volunteering to transform our society in some ways.

Our business idea, will aid the life of senior citizens to improve considerably, as they will get the opportunity to spend time and resources with children of our age.

The interaction among two sets of generations and various families will help bridge the gap against the changing times, and will help the two sets of individuals to inculcate the values of understanding, generosity, care and affection for the society.

Our Recycling of books will considerably decrease the consumption of paper, which will have a sustainable impact on our environment, as it will help save trees.

Our book selling activity will help those people who cannot afford new books. We also plan to donate these books to children of our support staff.

A part of our profit also goes to distribute school uniform and bags to these children.

Section F: Financing our growth and development

5. Here is a description of how we are planning to finance our business, including how we are going to raise the money needed for our school business.

At the end of the accounting period 2016-2017, we were able to generate a profit of ₹1,76,500 out of which -₹15,000 were proposed as dividend (as decided by the board) -₹25,000 were donated as per the motive of our school enterprise.

There is not much cost involved in our new business idea as we will start with services of volunteers and donated books. Once we start getting good response then we would start paying our volunteers. Even after the donations and dividend we were still left with a profit of ₹1,36, 500. So we decided to utilise this profit and capital of the enterprise for meeting the cost of our new business idea.

In case we require more funds, we would be organising fund raising events motivate people to invest in our business idea.
