Caregiving AARP VA provides presentations and workshops for

family caregivers, professionals and community members on topics like:

Prepare to Care Supporting Others through Illness Caregiving & Getting Your House in Order

ACA Education AARP wants to ensure that Americans 50+ understand what the Affordable Care Act means for them and their families. There is a lot to learn about the health care law, how it impacts Medicare, as well as new coverage options in Virginia. AARP staff and volunteers are available to make presentations about the ACA to your community group providing an overview of the following:

• New consumer benefits and protections • The Health Insurance Marketplace • Essential Health Benefits • Tax Credits and Subsidies to Help Consumers Purchase Insurance in

the Marketplace • Resources Available for Consumer Assistance

Home Fit AARP’s Home Fit Workshop helps participants decide what type of home modifications are needed to stay in their homes as they age and offers ideas and inspiration on making those modifications. The goal of the presentation is to educate participants on home updates that can make it easier for them to go about their daily activities while staying comfortable, independent, and injury-free in their homes.

Multicultural Outreach AARP Virginia’s multicultural outreach effort seeks to build a state-wide network of partnerships with faith-based organizations, media and other non-profits that

represent the interests of the African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, and Native American ethnic

populations, as well as with LGBT community organizations.
