Camera Work- One long point of view and

establishing shot- Birds eye view shot - Extreme close up

The point of view shot is used as the establishing shot, it positions you as the victim because the audience can see what the character can see. Which makes the audience feels the same way.

The birds eye view shot is used to show them the mask, to add the horror feeling. Because the character is looking up it links back to the bulb.

The extreme close up is used to show expression and to add to the horror feeling.

Editing- There is a long take (from the point of view of the victim) at the beginning

of the opening sequence which establishes the setting.- Slow motion is used when the victim starts the timer. This is effective in

highlighting the importance of time.- There are lots of action cuts present in the sequence which makes the

scene more intense and dramatic.- Fast forwarding is used many times to speed up the pace which grabs the

audiences attention and increases tension.- Shot reverse shot is used to show the victim’s expression/reaction to

Jigsaw’s puppet. - Action match is used when the victim hits the ground, which adds to the

horror and brutality as the audience sympathizes with the victim.
