Initially an introductory meeting with stakeholders i.e.villagers- local community, government machinery, membersof civil society organizations, and others was organizedwith a view to –

Get familiarized with communityCollect information on needs and problems of people(Need Assessment)Formulation of methodology and approachIdentifying CBOs, NGOs, and groups working in the areafor networking and working with joint and combinedeffortsAvailability of human, natural as well as financialresources i.e. Resource Mapping

    through Participatory Rural Appraisal approach.

Introductory meeting: initiating step towards objective

We experienced the overwhelming community response andtrue participation in the meeting where they shared andemphasized their views and opinions openly to us.

Induction Baseline survey- Needs assessment / resource mapping

After getting feedback from the community and stakeholdersin the introductory meeting, a baseline survey wasconducted in the panchayat and detailed information aboutHealth, education, family composition, employment, incomesource i.e. land, labor, or any other, delivery ofinformation-knowledge base services, etc.

Based on recommendations of report of collected data frombaseline survey and gathered information, a need of newapproach for ensuring true community participation was

  • realized. Then an innovative concept of networking wasformulated by “Satya Institute of Social Work Managementand Research, Jaipur” and in practical we launched “SATYASOCIAL NETWORKING COMMITTEE” to carry out the genuinelyimplement the strategies of organization with the combinedand coordinated efforts of -org representatives, government people, and localites, and other civil societyorganizations of the area.

    Group formation

Under Satya’s innovative programme “Social networkingCommittee”, five types of groups have been formed. Theyare-

Water committeeAgriculture committeeEducation CommitteeHealth committeeWomen committeeChild committee

The members of group are from the village itself.

The Creation / Imagination- Information Dissemination

Satya has adopted an ancient - traditional model forintimating local people about anything related tothem, satya uses a Notice Board (Black board) that wecall “Soochana Patt” and placed it on water hut nearbus stand, where most often the gathering of villagersand others are found. The information aboutorganization activities, government announcements, circulars, recommendations (law etc.) and new laws, amendment in law etc is disseminated through this.

Information Dissemination: Traditional as well as Effective

  • Another medium i.e. PA system (Public Address System –A device having a mike and loudspeaker) is used formaking announcements.

Such approaches are being appreciated by the villagers –community (receiver) just being easier and this also helpsin getting information, intimation at their doorstep orwhile roaming around in village or sitting here & there oranywhere in the village.

    Its interventions:

Satya welcomed “Jal chetana Rath Yatra: KisanMahotsava” (Water Awareness Campaign) of StateGovernment (Rajasthan, India) in panchayat andencouraged and motivated villagers for maximumparticipation.

Community Participation: Listening to the Message

Satya make community realize its importance with thehelp of awareness generation and knowledgedissemination through documentary on water conservationand rainwater harvesting, demonstrating methods andtechniques for water harvesting to villagers.

Satya encouraged community participation throughdigging and removing filth from village pond withaim of harvesting rainwater through hundreds ofpeople willingly offered ‘SHRMDAN’ (free labourwork) by Satya Social Networking Committee- watercommittee on behalf of organizational initiatives.

  • Saving Every Drop of Rainwater! - An Effort

Child Welfare and Development: Satya has createdgroups of children between with an objective ofensuring education, health, food and nutrition, andrights. The group is further divided into sub-groupsconsidering their needs and requirements accordingto their age-group, socio-economic status, gender, etc. likewise-
