SATURDAY, MAY 16th Acton May 16 & 17 Self-guided Tours Made in ActonThe Acton Historical Society and the Iron Work Farm present “MADE IN ACTON”, a map and brochure of historic industrial sites providing a self-guided tour revealing surviving clues of its indus-trial past. Materials available at the Historical Society, Iron Work Farm, and various locations across town. Many sites are located on town-owned land, and are readily accessible to the public. Hudson May 16: 10am–Noon Rain Date May 17 (same time)Assabet River – Painting en pleine air workshopCelebrate the Assabet River by meeting at Wood Park and partici-pating in an en plein air workshop where attendees will be guided in painting a scene of the river, the Taylor Memorial Bridge, or the park. Information on the river will be available. Children will be led by volunteers and will use watercolors to create a piece of art while in attendance. Refreshments will be available to partici-pants. Boxborough May 17: 1–4pmThe Hearses: A Horse-Drawn PairLearn what the customs and practices were when a resident passed away 100 to 200 years ago in this small Massachusetts town. See the hearses that transported the coffin of the deceased from this world to the next. View the two hearses: one circa 1860-1870 and the other from 1820. See the “coffin door” of the nearby Lt. This is the final resting place of the Revalyon family, free blacks who lived and worked in the Riverside neighborhood, including his Native Amer-ican daughter-in-law.
