"The event was part of theArmy's efforts to promote pos-itive youth developmentthrough sports and provide aplatform to youth for show-casing their talent,"Officiating PRO Defence, ColRajesh Kalia said.
A total of six teams fromKalakote, Dali, Sialsui,Songri, Parat and Barakh vil-lages of Rajouri District par-ticipated in the tournament onleague cum knock-out basis,he said adding that team fromSialsui was eventuallyadjudged the champion afterbeating Dali village team in acompetitive contested matchby nine (36-27) points.

whelming response both interms of participation andspectators, Col Rajesh saidadding that over 175 localsfrom a number of villages inRajouri District turned up towitness the final match.
"This symbolises love forsports as also the feeling ofbonhomie amongst the localsin this region," PRO said.
All the participating teammembers, he said, displayedexcellent sportsman spirit dur-ing the conduct of the tourna-ment. The Sarpanch and eld-
ers of the villages in Rajouriexpressed their gratitudetowards the army in itsendeavour to motivate theyouth of the region and bringin bonhomie.
Speaking on the occasion,Zonal Physical EducationOfficer Kalakote, who wasalso present on the occasion,exhorted the youth to takesuch opportunities to show-cases their sporting skills andcontinue to participate in suchevents with an aim to aid innational building.

SRINAGAR/JAMMU: A teenager among four persons werekilled in accidents in Srinagar and Jammu district.
As per the details, 17 years old Mohd Sultan Dar son of MohdMaqbool resident of Tappar Baripora was seriously injured afterthe tractor he was driving turned turtle. JAMMU: Police on Friday foiled bovine smuggling bid by arrest-ing one person and rescuing 15 bovines.
According to reports, Nagrota Police during a Naka near Ban
Toll Plaza intercepted a truck bearing registration NoJK02BN/7844. During checking, police found the aforesaidtruck was loaded with 15 bovine animals.
Police arrested truck driver who was identified as Liaqat Ali,son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Upper Thana, Udhampur andrescued 15 bovines from the truck.

JAMMU: Janipur police has registered a case on the basis of acomplaint on fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 40,000 after swappingATM cards. According to police, one Shubeg Khurshid, son ofKhurshid Ahmed, resident of Soura at present staying at BaganiTalab had complained about the incident. He said he had gone toan ATM of Punjab National Bank for withdrawing the moneybut was unable to withdraw the same. He sought help from a per-son standing nearby. Khurishd has alleged during the confusionthe man changed the ATM card and took out Rs 40,000 from hisaccount. BARAMULLA: Baramulla police apprehended a man withgrenade and 49 bullets. It is suspected that the man must be acourier for terrorists. JAMMU: As many as three assault cases have been reportedwithin last 24 hours in Jammu in which the concerned police havetaken cognisance for investigation. The victims have been shiftedto Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) Jammu.
According to information, Vishwa Nath, son of Chhaju Ram,resident of Kot Bhalwal was injured when he was attacked bysomeone. He was immediately shifted to GMCH Jammu.
Mohammad Hussain, resident of Nardni, Chinore was alsoinjured in a local dispute and shifted to GMCH.

Fire breaks out at army campSTATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: A fire case was reported in Army Camp Baramullawhich erupted late in the night. It created havoc but it was sooncontrolled and extinguished with the cooperation of local FireBrigade besides the army fire fighting squad.
Immediately after noticing the fire, information was given to theFire Brigade and the fire tenders reached on time and launchedtheir operation along with the army fire fighting teams. Since itwas soon brought under control, there was no loss of property.
