Dear Parents,
Not all classrooms have four walls, and learning is not confined to the school
environment alone. Indeed, ever since we are born, we learn. Children, apart from
learning at school, learn at home and at all places. Holidays give the children an
opportunity to learn at their own and comfortable pace, with their first and most beloved
teachers, their parents. In a bid to assist you in making this informal learning more
organised, useful and enjoyable, we have planned a vacation homework that will
engage your ward in some concrete learning. The intent is to promote not only
academic learning but also activities which can gradually become hobbies. Interesting
assignments are given as holiday homework, to help them learn without stress. Time
management skills and life skills are the indirect benefits that children gain from the
holiday homework. Here are some tips to make these assignments more meaningful:-
Spend more time with your children during vacation.
• Your child’s holidays should include listening to real life stories from you.
• They have to look around them and realize that they are not the only owners of
this planet and discover the uniqueness in them.
• Let us make our children experience such moments.
• Set aside a time in the morning hours for the homework, so that they work in an
organised and disciplined manner.
• Holiday is a time to relax and rejuvenate, so just be there participating, guiding
and helping them to enjoy their vacation to the fullest.
• Parents are requested to just guide the children to complete the task on their
own.
Stay safe and stay at home!
Regards
Principal

Earth, Our home planet is the third planet from the Sun, and the only place we know of
so far that’s inhabited by living things.
While Earth is only the fifth largest planet in the solar system, it is the only world in our
solar system with liquid water on the surface. Just slightly larger than nearby Venus,
Earth is the biggest of the four planets closest to the Sun, all of which are made of rock
and metal.
The name Earth is at least 1,000 years old. All of the planets, except for Earth, were
named after Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. However, the name Earth is a
Germanic word, which simply means “the ground.”
ACTIVITY
1. Every planet has its own adjective which describes the planet as per their
size, color, quality etc. Make a chart depicting the adjectives of each planet
with their pictures.
For Example-
EARTH- BLUE PLANET
VENUS- HOTTEST PLANET
JUPITER- LARGEST PLANET
4
2. There are different names given to all these planets. Take 5 languages except
Hindi/Sanskrit. Make a collage of all these names with the beautiful pictures of
planets.
MATHEMATICS
E A RT H, O UR HO ME planet, is a world unlike any other. The third planet from the sun, Earth is the only place in the known universe confirmed to host life. With a radius of 3,959 miles, Earth is the fifth largest planet in our solar system, and it's the only one known for sure to have liquid water on its surface. Earth is also unique in terms of monikers. Every other solar system planet was named for a Greek or Roman deity, but for at least a thousand years, some cultures have described our world using the Germanic word “earth,” which means simply “the ground.
ACTIVITY 1. Every planet has its own satellite. Just like Earth has moon, other planets have their
moons and in various quantity. Make a pictograph from the data given below.
KEY: (Each picture stands for two moons) =2 moons

EVS
Long ago, many people believed the world was flat. Explorers
who loved geography—studying the earth—eventually proved
it was round. As people learned more and more about what the
world looked like, they shared this knowledge with everyone by
making globes.
ACTIVITY 1- Creating an earth model is a fun, hands-on way
to learn all about our planet. In this project, you'll build a
model of the world, complete with all seven continents and four major oceans.
HOW TO MAKE IT?
Step 1- Start with a large Styrofoam ball: - If you can only find semicircular foam balls, buy two and glue them together.
Step 2- Trace the continents onto the ball: - Draw an outline of the continents onto your ball
Step 3- Paint the land and water: - Paint the continents with green or brown paint,
except for Antarctica.
Step 4- Add clay mountains (optional)
Step 5- Hot glue objects onto the surface: - Spice up your model with some fun toys, like miniature people, animals, or cars. Glue them onto the land using a hot glue gun.
Step 6- Add clouds: - Clouds will make your model extra special. Stick cotton
balls.
Step 7- Display the model: - Glue the globe onto a stand or box so it doesn't roll
away.

2. - Being responsible citizens it becomes our
duty to create awareness about environmental
issues. Create your own magazine on the
theme “THE UNIVERSE-BEYOND PLANETS
AND GALAXIES”. Make a picture magazine
on universe. You can paste pictures of stars,
constellations, galaxies, satellites, etc and
write interesting facts on them. Draw a
beautiful cover page of your magazine using
any chart paper or hand-made sheet available
with you.
COMPUTER
ACTIVITY
1. Create a model of our earth using the waste CDs at your home. You can take help
from the Internet. Example is shown below.
8
2. Write a poem on “My Mother Earth” in MS Word (10 lines) with a beautiful picture, get it printed with your name & class written on the document.
Change the font of the text to ’Comic Sans MS’.
Align the main heading to Center.
Change the font style of the heading to Bold.
Give a page border to the document.
Save the file with your name and get the printout.
ART & CRAFT
ACTIVITY: Draw an astronaut on an A-4 size sheet.
You can use colour pens, sheets and decorative
material.
