Rodriguez PREP Academy opened in August 2008 and serves grades six, seven, and eight. The instructional pro-gram at Rodriguez PREP Academy is structured to ensure that all students are held to high expectations and achieve their highest potential. The program includes:

• Rigorous, standards-based courses that engage all students in higher-order thinking

• A School of Engineering and Design program where students are enrolled in engaging, hands-on elective classes where students learn about the necessary skills and knowledge required of the future workforce. Some of these classes include Design & Modeling, Robotics, Digi-tal Design, Medical Detectives, and Computer Science

• Other elective classes are Band, Orchestra, Jazz, Art, AVID, Yearbook, and Leadership

• Intervention programs and courses that monitor and sup-port all students in meeting the school’s high academic expectations

• Extra-curricular activities and after-school programs such as sports, clubs, academic teams, CAPS, and tutoring

The Richardson PREP HI Academic Magnet Program is highly individualized, focusing on student achievement, social emotional growth, and leadership.Richardson PREP HI offers a number of academic interven-tion programs during the regular school day, as well as after school. Richardson’s highly successful Academic Interven-tion and Monitoring (AIM) program is a highly individualized academic support program that focuses on improving basic skills, student organization, and student motivation. This unique program provides each academically at-risk student a case manager, a mentor, and a tutor.Richardson’s Creative Before and After School Programs for Success (CAPS) is the largest middle school program Districtwide, where every student finds something of interest in our broad range of extracurricular choices. Richardson currently offers: jazz band, show choir, musical theater, guitar, piano, rock band, a fully functional recording station, percussion ensemble, dance, and a variety of other enrich-ment classes.Richardson also has a highly successful after-school sports program, which includes volleyball, softball, soccer, basket-ball, track and field, and cross-country.
