    Chapter 1

     Introduction

    The Samsung SLR 3.1 counters report statistical performance measurements bydata samples and data points over time.

    For more information on how to configure and view counter reports, please see theSamsung MBS (LTE) Operation Manual for SLR 3.1.

    Samsung SLR 3.1 Counter Description Fields

    Each counter can be described using the items in Table 1 below.

    Family

    Name/Description

     A group of counters with the same type that can be identified by the index.

     A family has a unique family name.

      Family Name: Unique name of a family.

      Family Description: Short description of a family.

    IndexName/Range/Description

     A logical or physical location of the unit information for collecting counters.

      Name: Unit for collecting counters.

      Range: Range of index.

      Description: Short description of index.

    Type Name The name of a counter

    Unit The collection unit of each counter.

    Step  Description 

    1) The UE performs the Random Access procedure with the eNB.

    2)-4) The UE transmits the NAS SERVICE REQUEST message to the MME. TheService Request message is encapsulated in an RRC message transmitted tothe eNB.

    5) The Pico eNB includes the Service Request message in the Initial UE message(an S1-AP Control message), and transmits it to the MME.

    6) If there is no UE context for the UE in the network, the integrity is not protectedfor the Attach Request message, or the integrity check fails, an authenticationand an NAS security setup are always performed. The UE performs the EPS AKA procedure (TS 33.401, 6.1.1) with the MME. The MME sets up an NASsecurity association with the UE using the NAS SMC procedure (TS 33.401,7.2.4.4).

    7) The MME transmits the S1-AP Initial Context Setup Request message to theeNB. This step activates both the radio bearer and S1 bearer for all active EPSbearers.

    8)-11) The eNB sets up the RRC radio bearers. The user plane security is set up at

    this step. The uplink data from the UE can be sent to the S-GW by the S-GW.The eNB transmits the uplink data to the S-GW, and then the S-GW transmits itto the P-GW.

    12) The Pico eNB transmits the Initial Context Setup Response message (S1-AP)to the MME.

    For statistics on RRC connection establishment, Attempt, Success, Fail and Reject statistics are counted. Attempt statistics are

    counted when the RRC CONNECTION REQUEST message is received. Success statistics are counted when the messages up toRRC CONNECTION SETUP COMPLETE are successfully received.

    When a timeout or internal failure occurs during the procedure from 1 to 2 in the figure above, it is counted as Fail, returning the

    cause value. Reject statistics are counted when the eNB determines that the call cannot be accepted after receiving the RRCCONNECTION REQUEST message, and the applicable cause value is recorded.

    This section provides statistics for the RRC connection reconfiguration count for each cell. There is no Fail statistics as the RRCconnection reconfiguration message is transmitted down from the serving eNB and the RRC CONNECTION

    RECONFIGURATION COMPLETE message is transmitted to the target eNB. In this case, the attempt and success counts in

    the reconfiguration statistics for the eNB can be different.
