Professional Experience

Technical Analyst (Business Support Team):

Working as Technical Analyst (Lead business support team) and was hired in UNB for the implementation of their Security Management project under Core Banking system solution implementation. My responsibility was to replicate all the security standards/rules which were functional in their earlier system along with the set of new requirements/rules/modifications referred from all concerned stake holders. My role here was to act as a liaison between the business and project team, initiate meetings with department heads of all concerned groups (CPU, Treasury, CPSE, TRADE, CAD, CARDS, SDM, and RGB etc), understand their requirements, gap analysis, their security controls and new requirements identification, mapping of business requirements into technical documentations, analyzing the controls and standards and comparing them with the existing functional system and central bank requirements, preparing sign off documentation which included summary of financial controls and their security rights and to get sign off from each departments head. I was hired as a standalone resource for Security Management System implementation and was responsible for end to end project implementation from business to technical aspect. After finalizing the Business part, my role was to implement all the security controls including their menu’s, screens, rights, security control standards, financial

Bank wide Security Management System Implementation for their conventional, Qatar, Kuwait, ISBG an Alwifaq subsidies as per security standards and measures which included restricted staff for vip accounts handling, functional slabs for each type of financial transaction user, overdraft financial slab limit as per staff rank and approved mechanism.

Preparing BRD’s, FSD’s, ISD’s against new CR’s being routed to IT. Collaboration with project stakeholders to understand and translate business goals and objective into

requirements that can be built. Updating and managing share Portals to make the records available for audit. Implementation for new features/products as per change request system by preparing FSD’s, BRD’s,

UTD’s in collaboration with business users and to implement them. Providing technical solutions/workaround for performance optimization Creation of new batch routines for automation of existing procedures. Catch all identification and resolution by creating/updating GL/PL lines and ranges. Restriction of each type of financial transaction based on Audit and security defined rules. Allied Bank Pakistan is one of the leading Banks in Pakistan with a network of more than 1000 branches. Promoted to the role of Lead project team for the implementation of Islamic Banking and lead the team of 6 people. My responsibility was end to end implementation of Islamic banking Retail, Deposit and Liability module. It was a new challenge for me to understand the Islamic business rules and processes by collaborating with differing banking group stake holders, understand the core rules and regulations from State Bank of Pakistan, identified the key business areas and products, advised and analyzed process work flow, prepared functional and technical documentation, getting sign off, requirement gathering and gap analysis, workflow for changing the existing conventional branch to Islamic branch, circular issuance and GO-LIVE activities.

Some of the highlighted tasks I performed are as follow:

Understating and training on Islamic banking concepts and workflow. Initiated high level meeting with business groups for requirement gathering, gap analysis and solution

identification. Analyzing the requirements through technical aspect as per features and limitation of current running core

banking system, escalate the limitations, resolve the matter through mutual consents of all stake holders. Prepare BRD’s, FSD’s, ISD’s, Test case documents, UAT and SIT1, SAT2 plans in coordination with all

concerned stake holders. Getting sign off from concerned department heads. Managed End to end implementation of Islamic banking which covers all areas from Branch Merger,

Branch Migration and setup. Configurationally setup, multi book multi company setup and Intercompany Parameter setup. Implemented complete in house and Account Product module and Term Deposit module for periodic and

maturity profit products (Mudarba Term Deposit) as per Islamic shariah compliant which includes; Profit calculation at actual rate, projected weightage calculation and projected rate declaration, product linkage at GL level, accruals reporting and balancing on projected and declared rates, Profit Calculation of declared rates, Correction entries for excess or less profit, correction at PL Expense head and end to end reconciliation.

Implemented in house pre maturity term deposit module where profit will be disbursed on each number of days as per lower tenor product and correction of excess/less profit as per declared rate calculation.

Implemented Zakat Deduction module, Fata/Pata tax exemption, Education Cess Tax handling on profit disbursement of Islamic Account and Term Deposit Products.

Pool balancing, conventional to Islamic and Islamic to conventional transactions Sit1, sit2, UAT, reporting and go-live.

Manager Core Banking and Liabilities:

Hired in Allied bank for the ongoing implementation of core banking solution (T24) and gradually promoted to manager Core Baking and Liabilities with a team Strength of 10 Resources over a period of 7 years. I was involved in all phases of project implementation from Gap analysis, requirement gathering, business analysis, BRD’s, FSD’s, Migration, Performance tuning, preparing test cases, project work flow, UAT, SIT1, SAT2, sanity testing, parameterization, environment creation, back up and restoration and GO-LIVE activities.

After Go-live I worked on difference projects and enhancements of Core banking solutions and was managing complete Schedule of charges (functionally and technically) for retail and deposit, was responsible for all deposit and account products setup and implementation, meeting different clients and propping different automated solution to fulfill their needs, Disaster Recovery management and archival processes, vendor management by initiating weekly calls to India’s office with the delivery manager for SLA, preparing issue escalation matrix summary logs to present to higher management, project management for new projects by collaborating with all business group stake holders and end to end projects implementations.

Implemented the complete Fees Collection Module for LUMS, Beacon House, City School and Lahore Grammar by visiting the clients, finalizing their requirements, getting sign off, project deadlines, presenting demos to client’s high level management, branch user training and GO-LIVE activities

Implemented the Cash dynamic Cash Management modules for clients like SNGPL, Nestle, Warid, Pepsi and co, Unilever, P&G etc

Implemented Instrument reconciliation module for bank level reconciliation of all instrument heads to avoid any financial leakage and to present a clear picture to higher Management.

Paperless banking implementation where eforms were used for all the data input with digital signature and sent automatically to CPU for verification.

Implemented the Bulk instrument issuance project as per need of various clients like PSO where salary was being disbursed on monthly basis through Pay order form and branch were supposed to create thousands of pay orders in a single day. The complete process works on single click basis from instrument heads balancing to physical automated printing of actual instruments.

Implemented Valued Customer project where special card had been issued to customer having maintaining 5M average balance. Special privileges likes priority queue, free banking benefits, free intercity clearing, free ATM, free cheque book, free locker were given to such customers.

Implemented Allied Express Account in order to facilitate remittances by cash where instant account has been opened for walk in customer with tax free cash withdrawal and a free cheque book for later purpose.

Implemented the incorporation for SAP number in all financial transaction for clients like ICI, SNGPL and other institutions where SAP is used as their prime system for the reconciliation at their end.

Implemented the Locker Management System - an automated solution for complete bank wide locker records, auto rent recovery, maintaining automated locker visit register and end to end reconciliation of all locker expense heads.

Implemented Allied Easy current account, Business Banking Account, esaver account, Allied Rising Star Account, Allied ba-ikhtiyar account, Allied Platinum Ba-ikhtiyar account, Rewarding Profit account, Platinum Rewarding profit account by collaborating with business banking group stake holders, analyzing the requirements, identifying key system limitations, profits rates drafting and circular initiation.

Implemented PLS Term Deposit, Allied Term Plus Deposit, Allied Advance profit term Deposit, Allied Mahana Aamni Term Deposit, Allied Behtar Munafa Term Deposit, Allied Bachat Scheme, Allied High Premium by collaborating with business banking group stake holders, analyzing the requirements, identifying key system limitations, analyzing all the TDR conditions for Maturity and pre maturity, taking business consents, sign off, requirements drafting, user training documents and circular issuance.

Implemented dynamic Term Deposit where interest rate can be fluctuated above rack rate with bps ranging from 0-100 depending upon the approving authority. Involved in high level meetings of CRBG and CIBG where special rate term deposit for special corporate clients varies from time to time, analyzed their key requirements and advised them a viable automated solution in order to achieve the feature without launching new products.

Implemented bank wide revamping of deposits and accounts where State bank of Pakistan instructed some major changes of changing the PLS Saving profit criteria from average balance to monthly average accrual and 6 monthly capitalization, minimum profit to be paid at 7.5%, interest should be paid on each day where funds are parked with bank and pre maturity conditions for Term Deposit. We faced certain obstacles where booking rate was less then prematurity rate instructed by SBP and approval was taken from SBP and high authorities to bypass such cases.

Implanted the tax redemption for FATA/PATA and incorporation of education cess in coordination with banking business groups and SBP regulations.

Automation of IBS and marketed by concept where an exercise was done to identify all the IBS images and staff list from old circulars, registers, and backup tapes, identified the active and non-active signatory authorities, mapped them in system with new look and feel and maintaining authority was given to HR for onward creation.

Implemented and maintaining the Tax redemption for employee where they have taken House Loan facility against marking their salaried account as nonprofit able account as per the decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan in order to benefit the employee.

Implemented the complete process of Letter of Thanks which is mandatory requirement for opening of account. Initiated high level meeting with TCS and Allied Bank operations where daily automated file is being routed to TCS for onward printing and in return a file received from TCS, based on which posting restriction is applied to account failing to verify their address.

Nominated as bench of three people, assigned the role of optimizing and stream lining the data migration process. My responsibilities were to: advice the end to end time efficient migration process, for which implemented certain algorithms for agent’s allocation, made multi-threaded batch routines, applied purging mechanism, and optimized code for better performance. This process had also provided me in depth knowledge of migration activities and later on successfully optimized the migration of each branch from 16 hours to 4 hours.

Performance Monitoring/Optimization Analyst: (Team Player)With the passage of time as we have achieved halfway mark in project's full completion, performance monitoring and tuning is also a vital part in project success. Worked closely with performance monitoring team to figure out the major reasons for performance dips, identified the peak time and type of transactions effecting performance, analyzed all the problematic transactions and then applied different coding techniques, optimized already written codes and applied different indexing techniques to achieve the maximum utilization with minimum load on system.

Quality Control: (Team Lead)Working as Quality Control lead my responsibilities are to keep track of all issues related to different banking domains (retail, core, credit, trade and treasury) routed to vendor for either bug resolution or new functionality implementation, provide technical solution where needed, get the requirements finalized by taking mutual consents from all stake holders, analyze the solution provided by vendor, validate requirements against fix provided, arrange QA and UAT and on successful results arrange deployment in LIVE. Furthermore, to have a weekly conference call with vendor in order to prioritize next week’s work, status update on all outstanding issues and to resolve any discrepancy if needed.
