The Time Flies
It is hard to believe that the month of January is already over, and the New Year of 2019, is not “NEW” anymore. As
the time pass by our agendas and calendars are getting really busy with another activities to come.
However, even with our busy lives it is necessary to take a pause and see what is around us, and who is close to us.
We can never forget our humanity. Although technology and other type of devices have the “desire” to transform us
into robots, we must remember to behave as humans who respect others and respect the many stages of life.
Black History Month
Every year the month of February is dedicated to the celebration of Black History. This month we dedicate the legacy
of so many men and women who really impacted the lives of all of us. We can think of many of them who in the
public arena challenged the structures of the Society and of the Church. As we celebrate this month we are called to
mind the sin of racism, that hurts the Church and its people, and we have to remember, racism is not only to say “I do
not like…” even a mischievous joke can carry a negative meaning.
Pray for Vocations
As quote the Prophet Jeremiah, who says: “The word of the LORD came to me, saying: Before I formed you in the
womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.” (Jeremiah 1:4-
5). As we read the book of the Prophet Jeremiah and listen God’s invitation to him to be a Prophet to the nations, you
and I are called to pray for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life and single life, where men and women
can fulfill God’ s promise in the vocations they felt God calling them.

El tiempo vuela
Es difícil creer que el mes de enero ya haya terminado y que el Año Nuevo de 2019 ya no es tan "NUEVO". A me-
dida que pasa el tiempo, nuestras agendas y calendarios están realmente ocupados con todas las actividades por venir.
Sin embargo, incluso con nuestras vidas ocupadas, es necesario hacer una pausa y ver qué nos rodea, y quién está cer-
ca de nosotros. Nunca podremos olvidar nuestra humanidad. Si bien la tecnología y otro tipo de dispositivos tienen el
"deseo" de transformarnos en robots, debemos recordar comportarnos como seres humanos que respetan a los demás
y respetan las muchas etapas de la vida.
Mes de la historia de la raza negra
Todos los años el mes de febrero se dedica a la celebración de la Historia de la Raza Negra. Este mes dedicamos el
legado de tantos hombres y mujeres que realmente impactaron las vidas de todos nosotros. Podemos pensar en mu-
chos de ellos que en la arena pública desafiaron las estructuras de la Sociedad y de la Iglesia. Al celebrar este mes,
debemos recordar el pecado del racismo, que lastima a la Iglesia y su gente, y debemos recordar que el racismo no es
solo decir "no me gusta ...", incluso una broma maliciosa puede tener un sentido negativo.
Orar por las vocaciones
Como cita al profeta Jeremías, quien dice: "La palabra del SEÑOR vino a mí, diciendo: Antes de formarte en el
vientre te conocí, antes de que nacieras, te dediqué a ser un profeta de las naciones que te designé". (Jeremías
1: 4-5). Mientras leemos el libro del profeta Jeremías y escuchamos la invitación de Dios para que sea un profeta para
las naciones, ustedes y yo estamos llamados a orar por las vocaciones al sacerdocio, el diaconado, la vida religiosa y
la vida soltera, donde hombres y mujeres pueden cumplir. La promesa de Dios en las vocaciones que ellos sentían que
Dios los llamaba.

We place our African American and African Families before You today. May we be proud of our history and never forget those who paid a great price for our liberation. Bless us
one by one and keep our hearts and minds fixed on higher ground.
Help us to live for you and not for ourselves, and may we cherish and proclaim the gift of life. Bless our parents, guardi-ans and grandparents, relatives and friends. Give us the amaz-ing grace to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
Help us, as Your children, to live in such a way that the beauty and greatness of authentic love is reflected in all that we say
and do. Give a healing anointing to those less fortunate,
especially the motherless, the fatherless, the broken, the sick and the lonely. Bless our departed family members and friends. May they be led into the light of Your dwelling place where we
will never grow old, where we will share the fullness of re-demption and shout the victory for all
eternity. This we ask in the Precious Name of Jesus, our Savior and
Blessed Assurance. Amen.
