Risk Assessment

Risk assessment helps to….

• Determine if existing control measures are adequate or if more should be done

•Prevent injuries or illnesses when done at the design or planning stage

•Prioritize hazards and control measures

Risk AssessmentHow do you perform a risk assessment? …

• Include both people familiar with the

work area, as well as people who are

not – this way you have both the

"experienced" and "fresh" eye to

conduct the inspection.

Risk AssessmentHow do you perform a risk assessment? … To do an assessment:• Review all available health and safety information about the hazard such as MSDS’s, manufacturers literature {Operator’s Manual/Instructions}, test procedures, process spec., quality forms {QF’s}, device history records {DHR’s} etc.,

• Identify actions necessary to eliminate or control the risk

"SRA" Mission StatementThe SRA Team is responsible for ensuring that hazards are identified and eliminated through the creation of a Safety Risk Assessment. Every job/task, & workstation must have a SRA. SRA’s are designed to determine the possible hazards in the work place, and put controls in place, to prevent accidents/injuries from occurring . The SRA Team performs an assessment by reviewing the task, and interviewing affected employees. Additionally, proper training on SRA’s for employees is a must, and needs to be coordinated through your Manager/Supervisor. SRA’s are updated at the request of accident investigation team, MOC’s, concern reports, every three years, or every year for high risk task.
