Entrance: Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
Love divine all loves excelling, Joy of heav’n to earth come down! Fix in us your humble dwelling; All your faithful mercies crown. Jesus, source of all compassion, Love unbounded, love all pure; Visit us with your salvation, Let your love in us endure.
Come, almighty to deliver; Let us all your life receive: Suddenly return and never, Nevermore your temples leave. Lord, we would be always blessing, Serve you as your hosts above, Pray, and praise you without ceasing, Glory in your precious love.
Responsorial Psalm The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Offertory: I Have Loved You
I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have called you and you are mine. I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have called you and you are mine.
Seek the face of the Lord and long for him; he will bring you his light and his peace.
Seek the face of the Lord and long for him; he will bring you his joy and his hope.
Seek the face of the Lord and long for him; he will bring you his care and his love.
Communion: _ __ Take and Eat Take and eat; take and eat: this is my body given up for you. Take and eat take and eat: this is my blood given up for you
Recessional: ___Sent Forth by God’s Blessings
Sent forth by God’s blessings, our true faith confessing, The people of God from his dwelling take leave. God’s sacrifice ended, O now be extended The fruits of this Mass in all hearts who believe. The seed of Christ’s teaching, our inner souls reaching, Shall blossom in action for God and for all. His grace shall incite us, his love shall unite us To further God’s kingdom and answer his call.
With praise and thanksgiving, to God who is living, The tasks of our ev’ryday life we embrace. Our faith ever sharing, in love ever caring, We claim as our neighbor all those of each race. One bread that has fed us, one light that has led us Unite us as one in his life that we share. Then may all the living with praise and thanksgiving Give honor to Christ and his name that we bear.

Month of August
We will tape the 8:30 Weekday Mass from the church
for Broadcast at 10:00 am.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Eucharistic Adoration has been suspended.
We will resume regular schedules in September.
Volunteers Still Needed Thank you to those parishioners who responded to the request for help in sanitizing the pews, door handles, bathroom, etc. in between Masses on the weekends. Many hands make for light work! We provide the sanitizer, towels, gloves, and masks for those who are helping. A very special request: if you are able to volunteer, please be sure to show up for the Mass(es) you sign up for to assist with the cleaning.
Eucharistic Adoration Will Resume in September There will be no Eucharistic Adoration for the month of August. It will resume again in September. During the pandemic, the number of people attending has dropped significantly at the time of Exposition and Benediction - as well as the hours in between. Of course, the church will remain open for private devotions each day from 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Did You Miss This Last Weekend: Why Wait??? Register Now! All parents interested in enrolling their children in our Religious Education Program should do so now. Why wait? Any adult in the parish who would like more information about participating in this year’s Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults should call the parish office and leave your name and telephone number. We will call you for an initial interview. Why wait? Any couple wishing to plan a church wedding should contact the office well in advance of the desired date and schedule an appointment to come in for an initial interview. Why wait? (We suggest making arrangements with the parish before leaving a deposit for a date with a reception venue.)
In Honor of St. Francis, Patron Saint of Ecology I would like to ask if any of our parishioners would be interested in assisting with an ongoing cleanup of the exterior perimeters of the parish grounds. There is often all kinds of papers, bottles, cans, etc. strewn around the property. This includes in front of the church, friary, high school, convent, grade school at 108 Shonnard Place and along the parish property on Voss Avenue. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] and I will get in touch with you. Ideally, it would be good to have several teams that could work maybe once a week together. So, if you’re interested and have someone or sev-eral people who might work well together, indicate that in your email to me. Thanks in advance. May St. Francis, patron saint of ecology, inspire, strengthen and accompany us on this simple act of reverence of Dear Mother Earth! Fr. Bob

BOAT FIVE LOAVES BLESSING FIVE THOUSAND
BROKE THE LOAVES HEAVEN CROWDS TWELVE
CURED SICK TWO FISH DESERTED PLACE WICKER BASKETS
EVENING
From the Pastor’s Desk
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time: So Little for so Many! In this weekend’s gospel, we recall Jesus’ feeding the vast crowd who followed Jesus on foot. Upon seeing them, his heart was moved with pity for them. He cured the sick among them. When the disciples suggest that Jesus dismiss the crowd so that they could go and buy food for themselves, Jesus gives the disciples one of their greatest challenges: “There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves.” What must have first gone through the disciples’ minds? Perhaps the sheer thought of giving up whatever food they may have had with them in order to feed others, especially after a long day may have frightened them. How could there be enough for us - and them. Five loaves and two fish are not very much even for the disciples, not to mention the five thousand men (not counting women and children) who needed to be fed. When the disciples report to Jesus the limited food supply they have with them, he doesn’t ask any questions, doesn’t reprimand them in any way, doesn’t send them out to go buy more; he simply tells the disciples, “Bring them here to me.” At this point maybe the disciples were asking themselves, maybe even murmuring under their breath, “What’s he going to do now?” They did not need to worry! Jesus was in control of the situation. He knew what he had to do: he looked up to heaven (always maintaining contact with the Father), said the blessing (a thanksgiving berekah in Hebrew), broke the loaves, gave them to the disciples who shared them with the crowd. We recognize this event as a foreshadowing of the Eucharist that Jesus would give to his disciples at the Last Supper, when he took bread, said the blessing and gave it to his disciples. All ate and were satisfied. Twelve wicker baskets of leftovers were gathered. When the Lord is present there is always enough for all - even when it seems there isn’t much to start with in the first place! And not only that, there are leftovers – so that nothing is wasted. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus is so gracious, so humble, so grateful to receive even the little bit that we give him. When he is present (and he always wants to be present, if we allow him), Jesus can do far more good than we can. Jesus invites us to feed with one another, with the wheat of our lives. Jesus needs us to be his eyes, ears, mouth, shoulders, hands, legs and feet in the world, so that he can continue to reach out to others, when his heart is moved with pity. I find myself with a lot of questions today. Perhaps they’re your questions, too. Perhaps you have others to add to the list! Is there anything I am holding back from the Lord? Am I giving freely and generously of my time, talent and treasure, without counting the cost, without wondering what’s in it for me, without fearing I can’t give any more, or I won’t have enough for me! Do I extend a warm welcome to others without prejudice? Do I accept the charity of others who wish to be generous with me? Am I wasteful in any way? Do I take God’s blessings for granted or squander them? Do I maintain “constant contact” with the Father, as Jesus taught and witnessed for me? Do I go to Jesus each and every day in confidence, believing and trust that he will take care of me? So little food for so many people. So little time for so many questions!
A Very Special Request is Coming Your Way…Stay Tuned
Please read the letter from Cardinal Dolan that is included in this week’s bulletin. May I urge to you to act on it this week? We need your assistance and that of our elected officials to help ensure that our Parish High School and Regional Grade School are not compromised in any way as a result of the coronavirus and its many collateral damages. Due to the generosity of our benefactors, we have been able to help several families in need of COVID-19 related tuition assistance as well as keep our Parish Food Pantry open. Thank you for your kind acts of charity to others. You are living the Gospel message each and every day. Thank You!
