Prelude Welcome and Announcements

Drawing Near to God Prelude                                         Lord I Lift Your Name on High Call to Worship  (Responsive)

Revelation 21: 5-6 promises that God will make everything new, and we know his words are trustworthy and true. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.To the thirsty he gives water for free, for he is the Spring of the water of life. Come, let us as servants of the Most High God praise him. Rise, all who fear him, both great and small, rise and praise his name!”

Allowing God to Shape Us Call to Confession

Our God is eternal, yet one who promises a new thing among us. And we are in need of that newness. Our sins and shortcomings are old news. We repeat destructive pat-terns, promise to do better, and revert to our old ways. The cycle of brokenness re-peats itself again and again. But God breaks into the cycle with the gift of grace. Let us bring our prayers of confession to the God who is gracious to hear us.

Prayer of Confession  (Unison)Merciful God, you call us to be salt and light and to live as your righteous, holy peo-ple. We want to, Lord, but we fall short! We confess that there is good and bad, light and dark within our own hearts. We want to do what is right, but our fears and anxi-eties lead us to self-protection rather than vulnerability, to hoarding rather than freely sharing, to self-righteousness rather than compassion. Forgive us, O God. Re-store us by your mercy, that having received the gift of your infinite love, we might turn to our neighbor and give your love away. For the sake of Christ, we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon  (Responsive)God's forgiveness is freely extended to all who in faith repent. Hear and believe the Good News: Jesus Christ forgives all your sins!

Coming Before God’s Open Word Blessing upon Our Children and Invitation to Youth Sunday School  (Unison)

Lord Jesus, grant our children an unshakable faith in the good news that you offered yourself up to suffering and death in love for them, and that God raised you from the dead. Assure them that you are now alive within them, and that because of you, they are good in God’s sight, and will live forever, never to be separated from his love. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination Scripture Lessons Psalm 116; 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1 Message “Hope Undiminished!”  Pondering the Sermon   Prayer of Blessing

Silent Prayer for Those Seeking to Acknowledge Christ as Their Savior:"Dear Jesus, I confess that I'm a sinner, and not right with you. I repent and ask forgiveness. I believe that you died on the cross to take my punishment and to pay the price for my sins. I believe that you rose from death to give me new life. Wash me clean from all sin, shame, and guilt, and come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. In your name I pray. Amen."

God of power and might, you raised Jesus up to bring forth eternal life in the midst of death, healing in the midst of disease, and light, hope, and renewal in the darkest places of our despair. You reach out for our hand, that we might be made whole, but also that our hands, and these gifts we offer, might serve to bring healing and life to others. Amen.

~THANKSGIVING GROCERY COLLECTION FOR THE VALATIE FOOD PANTRY~

appeal in support of its Thanksgiving Food Basket program, Outreach Ministry will be con-ducting a Thanksgiving grocery collection for the Valatie Food Pantry again this season.

(Continued on next page.)The program began last Sunday, October 21, and will end on November 11. Bagged grocery items may be placed in the foyer outside the Sanctuary or in the hallway adjacent the Fel -lowship Room. The food items may include canned cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, pumpkin pie mix; boxed instant mashed potatoes, brownie mix, stuffing mix, sugar, or whatever your heart decides to share. All contributions will be much appreciated! If you would like to help deliver food parcels to the pantry, it can be arranged at your conve-nience by contacting Jane Deane at (518) 758-7051. Many thanks for your kind donations which will make a truly Happy Thanksgiving for the needy among us! If you would like to help financially, checks may be made payable to “Kinderhook Re-formed Church” with “Thanksgiving Baskets” on the memo line and dropped into the offer-ing plate.  As a result of last year’s food collection drive and financial donations, many needy families in our local communities enjoyed great Thanksgiving dinners, and KRC contributed substantially to this ministry. Let’s make this year even better!  Volunteers are needed to help set up and distribute Thanksgiving baskets at St. John's Church, located on Route 9 in Valatie. It is a nice, short-term opportunity to serve in our community. Setup, which usually takes an hour or so, is Sunday evening, Novem-ber 18, from 6pm to approximately 7:30pm. It is a very well-organized operation. Adults and school aged children are welcome, and no previous experience is needed. Distribu-tion is Monday, November 19, from 10am – 4pm, and Tuesday, November 20, from 10am to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. If you are interested in helping during those times (usu-ally a 3 hr shift on distribution days), please let Maureen Mooney know. She can be reached at 518-210-6079. Thank you.

CONCERTS IN THE VILLAGE: PASSION! BRILLIANCE! GENIUS! MOZART’S SINFONIA CONCERTANTE AND IMMORTAL REQUIEMWITH THE BROAD STREET CHORALE, ORCHESTRA AND SOLOISTS

3:00 PM SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11, KINDERHOOK REFORMED CHURCH At 3:00 pm Sunday, November 11, Concerts in the Village continues its 9 th season with the Broad Street Chorale and Orchestra joined by guest soloists in performances of Mozart’s brilliant Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola and the immortal Requiem. This is believed to be the first performance by a regionally-based ensemble of Robert D. Levin’s completion of the Requiem, Mozart’s last but unfinished work. CITV Artistic Director David Smith will conduct. Contribution $20. Composed in 1779 the Sinfonia Concertante is a masterpiece of virtuoso writing for violin and viola. In form it is a hybrid between concerto and symphony, reminding the listener of Mozart’s unchallenged creative genius. The demanding solo parts will be performed by violinist Helena Baillie and violist Judith Nelson. Born in London, Ms. Baillie’s studies have been at the Curtis Institute of Music and at Yale. Having performed all over the world, she now teaches at Bard and resides in Dutchess County. A native of Oregon, Ms. Nelson has been a member of the New York Philharmonic since 1983, living both in Manhattan and in Columbia County. Her studies were at the University of Washington and The Juilliard School. Ms. Nelson’s performing experiences have included the viola concertos of Hindemith, Walton, and Bartók. Says David Smith, “I am honored, in fact thrilled, to have Helena and Judy with us in November. They represent an incredibly talented and experienced pairing in one of Mozart’s most striking concertos. I know they share my enthusiasm for what we will be offering.” The great Requiem of Mozart follows. In Smith’s opinion, “Even in its incomplete state, this is a much-beloved masterpiece. The surreal circumstances surrounding its commission and composition have inspired plays, musicals, movies and novels. The Mozart Requiem has become with good reason a legendary work. Fortunately the brilliant American scholar and keyboard specialist Robert Levin has given us a powerful, but entirely appropriate completion. And it is not by accident that our performance of the Requiem also commemorates, to the day, the centennial of the armistice concluding World War I.” For the Requiem the Broad Street Chorale and Orchestra will be joined by four remarkable singers fast gaining audience attention: soprano Paulina Swierczek, alto

VEMBER 3, AS DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME WILL END AT 2 A.M. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4.

STEWARDSHIP UPDATE Our offering last Sunday was $2646, more than $500 dollars short of the $3,200 needed weekly to cover KRC’s daily operating expenses. Our deficit is now $2,446 after meeting this past week’s expenses.

Income-to-date: $141,800 - Expenses-to-date: $144,246 Stewardship Ministry reminds everyone to prayerfully consider how they might adjust their giving so we can avoid falling further behind and having to tap into our very limited reserves to meet budgetary obligations.

Inspired by the abundance with which the Lord has blessed us, let us continue, as his faithful stewards, to be ever mindful of the need

to maintain a weekly offering sufficient to cover our commitments.

Each member’s share of this year’s classis assessment has been set at $94.68 (Up $6.18 from last year). All who are able to do so are encouraged to offer, over and above regular giving, their share of this support. Please clearly designate all contributions, “Classis Assessment.”

REMEMBER TO THANK & PRAISE GOD FOR Pastor Rudy Visser, our Spirit-filled minister and leader of vision, and for the Christ-cen-

tered messages God gives to Pastor each and every Sunday for the spiritual nourishment and growth of our church family.
