We will continue to focus on teaching our teachers instructional strategies that will extend our students’ learning and help them develop important critical thinking skills. Our PTA and SGC are already hard at work meeting and discussing the needs of our school community. Our current fundraiser, Charleston Wrap, will help support our Gator Pride school initiatives. We have so many accomplishments and achievements to celebrate and this fundraiser will help us get items needed to showcase the incredible learning going on at our wonderful school. One area of growth for our school is student attendance. Each year the state looks at the number of students missing less than six days a school year and this data is factored into our CCRPI rating and Star Climate Rating; which is like a “report card” for our school annually. Although our overall CCRPI score (96.3) is very good, our attendance rate is impacting our school from being rated higher. For example, just in the first month of this current school year our students have already missed a total of 295 days. It is so important that students are at school each day (unless they are ill or have an extenuating circumstance). Our school administrative team is going to start recognizing students who have perfect attendance (0 tardies and 0 absences) each quarter. We are hoping that this recognition will help incentivize students to be on time and come to school each day possible. I thank you in advance for partnering with us to increase the number of students with less than six absences a school year. Ultimately, our students will benefit from uninterrupted learning and instruction. I hope to see you on Friday of this week for our General PTA meeting at 8:30 am in our school media center. Have a great week! Julie Morris

Learn and Grow,

Lead and Show!

A Message from the PrincipalGood Evening Lake Windward Families,

It was so great to see many of you here at LWE for our curriculum nights over the last two weeks. Our teachers enjoyed getting to

spend some time with you and talking about all of the great things our students will be learning and doing throughout the school

year.

We also had a very successful professional development day on September 2nd with our staff. Teachers focused on identifying their

own teaching and learning styles and learned about how these styles impact how they teach. They were then given some great

resources and got to practice some instructional strategies which help meet the needs of students at all levels of learning. We will

continue to focus on teaching our teachers instructional strategies that will extend our students’ learning and help them develop

important critical thinking skills.

Our PTA and SGC are already hard at work meeting and discussing the needs of our school community. Our current fundraiser,

Charleston Wrap, will help support our Gator Pride school initiatives. We have so many accomplishments and achievements to

celebrate and this fundraiser will help us get items needed to showcase the incredible learning going on at our wonderful school.

One area of growth for our school is student attendance. Each year the state looks at the number of students missing less than six

days a school year and this data is factored into our CCRPI rating and Star Climate Rating; which is like a “report card” for our school

annually. Although our overall CCRPI score (96.3) is very good, our attendance rate is impacting our school from being rated higher.

For example, just in the first month of this current school year our students have already missed a total of 295 days. It is so

important that students are at school each day (unless they are ill or have an extenuating circumstance). Our school administrative

team is going to start recognizing students who have perfect attendance (0 tardies and 0 absences) each quarter. We are hoping that

this recognition will help incentivize students to be on time and come to school each day possible. I thank you in advance for

partnering with us to increase the number of students with less than six absences a school year. Ultimately, our students will benefit

from uninterrupted learning and instruction.

I hope to see you on Friday of this week for our General PTA meeting at 8:30 am in our school media center.

Have a great week!

bring a note, you must now call the school as well as email the front office or fax a

note. The email is [email protected]. The fax number is: 470-254-7069

All items not claimed by the last day of the month will be

donated to the Goodwill. Please take time to go through the

items.

Respecting Me—Helping our kids make

wise body choices

How do you talk to your child about making wise

choices without the lecture? Try this phrase:

When I respect myself, I take care of my body

being clean, healthy, and safe.

Explain to your child, depending on his/her age

and maturity, that means: I wash myself every

day, I turn away when someone coughs or sneezes,

I eat healthy foods and am mindful of when I am

eating food without a lot of nutrition, I do not

take unhealthy risks, and I do not hurt my body on

purpose.

We all want children to grow up knowing how to

make healthy living a conscious choice. Thanks for

your help at home.
