Joint Size: Joint size may vary from a minimum 5mm to maximum 30mm wid. Joints with cyclic movement should have a width of depth ratio 2:1 and should be designed so total movement does not exceeded 25% MAF.Sealant width should not exceed joint width, except joints subject to total im-mersion where joint profile should be 1:1.

Minimum sealant depth recommended:

- 5mm for metals, glass and other impervious surfaces. - 10mm for all porous surfaces. - 20mm for joints exposed to hydrostatic pressure. - 5mm below flush for joints exposed to traffic.

Instructions for Use:

Joint Preparation: The joint must be clean and dry and free from oil, loose particles, cement laitance corrosion, tar, grease, asphalt, mastic compounds, paint, waterproofing agents wax, release agents and other contaminant which may affect the adhesion. On porous substrates allow any residual solvent to evaporate prior to sealant application. Wipe non porous surfaces (glass, alumi-num etc) with lint free cloth and solvent.

Applying masking tape: Masking tape should be used to protect the face of the joint from primer and or sealant application. Tape should be removed as soon as possible after application of sealant.

Priming: After proper surface preparations if required, DELTA DPS Primer shall be applied to clean dry surface prior to installation of backer rod and bond breaking tape. Apply primer using a soft paint brush. For porous material, work the primer to ensure complete surface penetration, do not spread primer too thinly and do not apply excess primer. Primer should be allowed to become tack free prior to sealant application.

DELTA POLYSULPHIDE JOINT SEALANTGun Grade and Pouring Grade

Backer-rod: To allow free movement of sealant with joint movement and to ensure the correct and uniform depth of sealant along whole length of the joint, Backer rod to be used. Backer rod makes it easier to completely fill the joint with sealant, controls the sealant depth, and reduces sealant wastage and support sealant during tooling.

Backer rod diameter shall be at least 20% larger but not greater than 33% of Joint width, wherever joint depth is insufficient to use backer rod a bond breaker, polythene tape or film to which sealant will not stick to be used to prevent adhesion to the third surface. Mixing: Combine the base and curing agent and use a slow speed electric mixer fitted with a suitable paddle to stir until a homogenous mix is obtained. Ensure that the mixing paddle is taken round the sides of the tin so that every particle of material is thoroughly mixed. A palette knife should be used to scrape round the inside of the tin to return any unmixed sealant to the mass of material.

Application: Application can be by pouring, gun or trowel according to the grade used. When using a bulk-loading gun, place over the centre hole of the filler plate; apply steady downward pressure whilst drawing the rod of the bulk-loading gun, this will result in the barrel being filled. Extrude the sealant firmly into the joint by maintaining an even pressure on the trigger of the gun. Ensure complete filling of the joint to avoid slumping. Clean the gun nozzle occasionally to avoid contamination.

Tooling: To obtain a smooth finish, tool the sealant with a spatula wet with diluted detergent. This breaks air bubbles and exposes any air pockets present whilst compressing the sealant and promoting adhesion to the joint sides.

Packaging and Storage: DELTA DPS 555 is supplied in Gun Grade and Pour-ing grade in 4 liters tins. It has a minimum shelf life of 12 months provided it is stored under cover, out of direct sunlight.
