Malaysian Government hopes to sell palm oil to Russia, boost exports to Ukraine The Government of Malaysia is planning to enter into a marketing agreement with Russia in order to export palm oil to Russia. Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik said that this would help Russia to buy palm oil of Ringgit 190 M from Malaysia under the Palm Oil Credit Payment Arrangement. Malaysia is now in the final stage of signing the deal with Russia. Malaysia plans to expand newer markets in palm oil trading as well as consolidate old markets by increasing the availability of the credit scheme to countries that require credit and for them to import palm oil by contra trading. It has also granted $10 M in palm oil credit payment arrangements to Ukraine importers and expects this to increase the export of Malaysian palm oil to Ukraine. The Malaysian Government also believes that it could greatly increase exports of palm oil in the future if the Ukrainian port of Odessa were developed allowing access across the Black Sea to the Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
