Examples include the injection of proprietary chemicals lor water treatment in dust suppressing applications at the cutting location. a~ typical configuration calls ti)r the precise injection of a low pressure chemical stream (800 - ! 000 psig) to create a solution to effectively conrol dust, as well as acting as a coolant in the cutting operation. These chemicals are typically purchased in fixed quantities ranging from 55 - 220 gallons and delivered to the pro- tess by way of a tank mounted on the cutting equipment. This equipment operates in an explosive environment, requiring explosion proof equipmnet. Electric motors must be rated accordingly. More often than not however, the operator requires that the driver on the metering pump be a hydraulic motor. After relatively minor modifications to the stan- dard pump design, this option is available on most of Milton Roy's product lines. This is addi- tionally advantageous to the operator because the cutting machine itseff is hydraulically driven. The power source is therefore readily available, and the operator doesn't need to bring in another source of power just for the metering pump. It should be noted that most metering pump installations require that the pump be mounted on a level surface. In the case of this type of installa- tion, this is rarely possible, and as a result the pumps are often found to be working on an angle. This requires the use of a very rugged metering pump drive design. After only moments of opera- tion of the cutting machine, the pump and its associated compo- nents are covered in coal dust. These conditions are as extreme as an},,and demand the use of the most robust and dependable fluid metering equipment available. Rugged p u m p design at the cutt ing edge

Over the years, Milton Roy has accumula ted various applica- tion exper ience in underground mining operations throughout the Americas. Examples include the in jec t ion of p ropr ie ta ry chemicals lor water t reatment in dust suppressing applications at the cutt ing location.

a~ typical configuration calls ti)r the precise injection of a low pressure chemical stream (800 - ! 000 psig) to create a solution to effectively conrol dust, as well as acting as a coolant in the cutting operation. These chemicals are typically purchased in fixed quantities ranging from 55 - 220 gallons and del ivered to the pro- tess by way of a tank mounted on the cutting equipment.

This equ ipment operates in an explosive e n v i r o n m e n t ,

requi r ing explos ion proof equ ipmne t . Electric motors must be rated accordingly. More often than not however, the operator requires that the driver on the metering p u m p be a hydraulic motor. After relatively minor modifications to the stan- dard pump design, this opt ion is available on most of Milton Roy's product lines. This is addi- t ionally advantageous to the operator because the cut t ing machine itseff is hydraulically driven. The power source is therefore readily available, and the operator doesn ' t need to br ing in ano the r source of power just for the meter ing pump.

It should be noted that most me te r ing p u m p instal lat ions require that the p u m p be

mounted on a level surface. In the case of this type of installa- tion, this is rarely possible, and as a result the pumps are often found to be work ing on an angle. This requires the use of a very rugged mete r ing p u m p drive design.

After only moments of opera- tion of the cutting machine, the pump and its associated compo- nents are covered in coal dust. These conditions are as extreme as an},, and demand the use of the most robust and dependable fluid metering equipment available.
