From Ms. Kristy and Ms. Elizabeth:

We had such a wonderful year getting to know all of the Kindergarten and 1st grade students! We did so many things this year, it was tough picking out our favorites, but we put our heads together to come up with our very favorite things about our time with you this year. We hope you enjoy the resulting poems below, and have a great summer!!

From Mr. Josh:

Team Two has had a blast trying their hands at dozens of different of roles this Spring. They were engineers, grappling with the challenges of building towers, bridges, and egg-securing parachutes. They were artists, designing their own comic books, painting like Michelangelo, and taking part in our UASP Art Drive. They have been athletes in the UASP Olympics and playing mini golf, and they have been scientists, dissecting a computer and mixing together different kinds of liquids. Their entrepreneurial skills were put to the test when we sold raffle tickets and lemonade and they did their part to be good citizens by learning about different ways to show respect during Core Values week. As archaeologists they dug up frozen artifacts in the sand (there’s still something out there!) and as actors they performed like famous people of their choice. They had the opportunity to be musicians, chefs, fashion designers, and filmmakers on our Choose Your Own Adventure days.

The students in Team Two have been working hard all year to earn points by doing their daily jobs such as helping keep our room organized, reading, and completing their homework, as well as participating in many contests and activities throughout the year. Congratulations to Grady R. and Jacob G. for being our Nok-Hockey Tournament champions, Lucas D. for being the closest to picking his March Madness bracket correctly, and Aiden S. for finding the most different colors in our paint swatch scavenger hunt.

For all their hard work, Team Two has earned a number of special prizes, including enjoying milk shakes with a movie, getting to select the activity we would do on a certain day, taking a trip to the Team Two Trading Post at the end of the week, and having an opportunity to bid at our end of the year auction. It has been a pleasure getting to spend the year with Team Two and we would like to wish our third graders luck as they move on to Team Three and welcome the first graders who will be joining us next year.

Have a great summer!

From all of us at UASP: Have a fun, fabulous summer, and we’ll see you in the fall!!

From Mr. Joe:I feel so lucky to have been able to work with Team Two and Three; this year was so much fun. I have so many favorite moments on both teams, from Fridays with Team Three to playing dodge ball with Team Two... There have been a lot of laughs this year, especially wearing Davey mustaches with Team Two and having “holding arm up” contests, and hanging out with all the hilarious personalities in Team Three. Overall my favorite moments were Wilderness Club, making up Watchtower (definitely turned out really well, and I am very pleased to see how much everyone enjoys it!), the Team Three scavenger hunts, and Movies and Tea club (the accents were fun). I learned a lot this year, like soccer techniques from Jared, good books from Nicholas, what’s cool with the students from Henry, and so much more... This was really an amazing year, even if I did end up getting locked in a stockade!

From Ms. Chelsea: Highlights of the Year Include:

-Painting for the Art Show-Watching students develop during ski club-Letting students create their own products during science experiments-Having an Awkward Dance Party on Carnival Friday-Game Day on Fridays-Singing to students-Having Team Three create and teach lessons to Team One students

I’ve had so much fun this year hearing students’ jokes, having students teach me about different activities, having students sneak up on me at recess and hearing about everyone’s day!
