So they would know the difference.

2.3.8.A.1 Explain why the therapeutic effects and potential risks of commonly used over-the-counter medicines, prescription drugs, and herbal and medicinal supplements vary in different individuals.

If no one responds or gives the definition correctly, the teacher will then give the definition and again see if someone knows what the term alternative medicines mean.

Students will pass around pictures that deal with alternative medicines and see if they know the names of each one.

Students and the teacher will have a slight conversation on what they think the term alternative medicine means and the pictures the lesson will continue.

Before the lesson the pictures will be collected by the teacher

Middle of Class:

Teacher will discuss the term Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Teacher will then ask, Can anyone take a guess on what might alternative medicine in Traditional Chinese Medicine might be?

Would any of you students receive acupuncture?

Would any of you would be willing to taste an herbal tea?

What other plants might people use to extract the remedies you to help with illness?

Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Hypnotherapy will be discussed?

These terms can be found on page 616 in the book 614 in the text Connect Core Concepts In Health Twelfth Edition by Paul M. Insel and Walton T. Roth

The terms for these words will be broken down to understand the definition for example: Homeo: means -like or similar. Pathy: means feeling, suffering or perception. Then the definition A holistic alternative medical system that treats illnesses by giving very small doses of drugs that in larger doses would produce symptoms like those of the illness.

The teachers will then tell the students if you never know the definition for a word and you can always break it down to find the definition.

The teacher will do the same for the next two words.

SECTION D. (Reflection) Student Outcomes: Describe degree to which students met each objective: The students met each objective because they have learned a new way of alternative based on previous knowledge of over the counter drugs. The students learned different type of alternative medicines and experienced it hands on and saw it visually.

Teacher Effectiveness: What went well? What needs work? How would you modify the lesson?

I could modify the lesson by keeping pictures that deal with each topic, so if a student ever sees it outside of class it would sort a leave a picture imprinted in their mind so that they know, remember and learned about.

I could hire a Qigong instructor to come in and give more information on a previous or after date.
