Cabin Building Project Update Last June the Board sent an application to the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust requesting grant funding for four new cabins. Our application was accepted and on November 26, a Murdock representative will fly in for a site visit and meet with our Executive Director and two Board members. After this visit, the Murdock Trustees will then review our grant request and respond with a decision within 3-6 months. Murdock will be looking at the support and involvement from our Board but also from our camp community of supporters. If we can improve our funding plan, outside of what we have requested from Murdock, it will strengthen the standing of our request with their grant committee. Murdock needs to clearly see that we will continue this project whether or not we receive their grant, as it will demonstrate the need, determination and importance to move forward and improve our facilities. The total donated dollar amount isn’t as im- portant as how many people are in support of this project (i.e. many people contributing even small amounts monthly shows greater commitment). What have we asked Murdock for? We are seeking $147,000 from them to partner with us in our existing funds from committed donors and volunteer labor groups in building four new cabins. Why have we asked for this? The problem for several of our camp groups is that we have run out of cabin sleeping space! The blessing is that summer camps continue to grow! Having four additional cabins, each with 12 beds, would accommodate this in- crease in number of campers and allow for more growth over time. It would also allow us to extend our services to new larger groups. Our board is 100% committed to this project. It was unanimously decided upon early this year to apply for this grant for this particular project. Even if the Murdock Charitable Trust denies funding, we as the camp’s Board of Directors, believe we are fulfilling the camp’s mission through our commitment to expanding our current facilities. We will continue to be financially responsible to ensure that Ross Point will be here for future generations, but we invite and encourage you to support this cabin project with us. We are hopeful to start building 1-2 cabins this summer! You can donate to this particular project fund called “Cabin Project” by going to www.rosspoint.org and clicking on the donation tab. One time donations are always appreciated, but even better is a monthly recurring donation showing your ongoing support for the short term duration of this project. If you already donate to Ross Point, please consider re-directing your giving to this area. Thank you for your support and prayers for Ross Point. WHAT IS LOVE The theme of this retreat is “What is Love”. Don't you love love? Isn't love the best? We love each other, we love coffee, we love nature, we love school.... ok, maybe that's a stretch... but it seems in a culture where love is the answer, what could be wrong? Really, everything - since that kind of love, isn't actually love! We will be learning about what love is and what it isn’t.

Ericka Sayers will be directing this retreat. Er-icka has been involved with Ross Point for many years, first attending Junior Camp in 1996. Growing up as a pastor's kid, she moved

around a lot, yet Ross Point was always there, and always a home to return to. She grew up quiet and shy, yet was stretched to coun-sel many times, worked on staff a few years, and di-rected Senior High Camp for five summers. Please encourage the youth of your church to attend and go bring a friend or sibling. The theme verses will be 1 Corinthians 13 1- 13.

We are so grateful to the people who give so gener-ously of their time and talents. We are so blessed with those who volunteer as directors, counselors and helpers at youth retreats, summer camps and facility maintenance. We want to thank Valley Christian School for raking pine needles this spring and fall. We would like to thank Mark, Molly & Col-ton Perry, Mikel Nisse and Tony Pellitteri for helping construct the new ropes course and Tim Sievers and Traci Mertens for directing the Men’s and Women’s Retreats. We would also like to thank the following for ministering to the youth at the Spring Youth Retreat and summer camps: Kathe-rine Shipley, Scott & Tabi-tha Anderson, Andrew Derr, Traci Mertens, Elisa-

GENEROSITY FOR GENERATIONS

Online Registration: www.rosspoint.org Or contact us at: [email protected] 208-773-1655

In this day and age where so many things demand our attention, work, family life, it is easy to lose focus on God and His plan for us. Also because of all the dis-tractions we sometimes need to step out of our everyday lives and find a place that we can step into the quiet peace of God’s presence. Ross Point is that place for me. From the first time I attend-ed camp in 1972 until today, I have always found my time at Ross Point to be full of God filled learning, laughter, fun, quietness, acceptance and peace. Ross Point is a living legacy where God’s presence is truly felt. It is the place my parents sent me, where I in turn sent my chil-dren and someday they will

send their children. In order to ensure Ross Point contin-ues to provide a legacy of sharing God and His love, we have created a place where you too can become a forever part of Ross Point’s future. The “Generosity for Generations Fund” which was established in 2017 to help expand and enhance the ministries for future genera-tions is our way of providing for that future and ensuring the continuing legacy of Ross Point. Ross Point has teamed up with American Baptist Foundation to pro-vide creative “planned giv-ing” options. In addition to cash gifts, we encourage other ways to give:

Gifts through Wills and Bequests

Gifts of Stock

Life Insurance Designa-tions

Real Estate and Other Properties

Charitable Trusts and Gift Annuities

If you would like more in-formation about giving to the “Generosity for Genera-tions Fund” check out our web site: ww.rosspoint.org and go to donations tab or you can call the office and ask for a brochure. Please prayerfully consider becom-ing a partner with us to ensure Ross Point is here for generations to come.

Board of Directors

SUMMER CAMP COMMENTS

We are so blessed to have the opportunity to serve and minis-ter to the young people of our region. What a blessing to make an impact that will affect the rest of their lives. Following are comments from campers and their parents from the youth camps this summer:

“I really came to grip with the fact that Jesus is enough and material things don't matter. Where I feel most connected is when I'm using my gifts God gave to me.”

“We love it here! Can't wait for next year.”

“I've grown in my faith and have further accepted Jesus in my life.”

“Yes, Jesus tried speaking to my heart and I let him with the help of my amazing counselor. Yes, my decision was to let Jesus take my problems. I

didn't know how to at first but my counselor showed/told me how.”

“Best year ever. I experienced the Holy Spirit.”

“I chose to follow God and chose Jesus as my Lord and Savior.”

“I made a decision to be closer to God.”

“Everything was perfect. I want to be baptized because I've grown closer to God.”

“I re-dedicated my life to Jesus.”

Comments from parents after camp:

“I think the activities and the out-door setting is amazing. It gives the chance for our youth to unplug and to reconnect with the outside world. It gives them time to have original thoughts instead of digital insertion

of content.”

“It was his first summer and I think he learned a lot, he had an amazing time, and he cannot wait to go back. I'm thankful he can grow up going to camp like I did and that he's excited about it. He asks more questions and wants to learn more about God and

how we are meant to live.”

“My camper has a better understand-

ing of his relationship with Christ.”

“One is talking more about getting baptized. We still have some clarifi-cations for him to understand before he feels he is really ready. He is only 8, but I don't think that's too young. He is well aware of his need for

Jesus!”

“My daughter talks more about want-ing to serve others and do missions

work one day.”
