Colour on the cover

The main colours used on the front of Rock sound are yellow, red,black and blue. Red is used for the masthead of the magazine, onthe captions for each article and on three of the band title

advertised on the CD. This shows the articles are important as theyare the same colour as the masthead, and the bands in readcould be what would interest the reader most. Red is a colour fordanger and passion that is fitting for the style of music themagazine is aimed at. Yellow is used for the left third highlightingthe text as regarding the articles inside and using yellow on thePanic! At The Disco article on the right hand side identifies it asbeing part of the same type of article. A blue union jack flag is onthe t-shirt of the main cover image and is then used in the text boxof the name of the band. It is also used below in the Panic! Articleas it is the same colour of Brendon Uries suit and the text for thisfeature, as well as in the Danny Worsnop article to the top of the

left third. This could be used as the text relating to the main imageis big and a main feature, so it would be assumed anything elseusing this colour was big news tooas these images are quite smallthey may otherwise have gone unnoticed but as they are thesame colour as an important article they are likely to be seen.Black is worn by all members of the band in the main image and isused in the text for their article so any other articles with black, likemost of the articles down the left third or the top cover line, couldbe seen as a similar type of article or band which could attractreaders who were interested in the main article. Yellow is seenfrequently with black which has connotation of death and disasterwhich is associated with this music genre so makes the genre ofmagazine obvious.

The contents page continues using yellow, red,and black. Red is used on the right hand page ofthe contents and has the most to do with actualarticlesred is also used on the captionunderneath the contents masthead, welcometo rock sound!, which means that a readerwould see welcome to rock sound and then seethe red on the other page and understand this iswhere the magazine starts. Yellow is used on themain articles titles, but also on the background ofother sections of the contents page displayingslightly less important articles, showing that otherpage numbers can be found in these boxes.Black is used for the main image which has thesame band as the main image on the front coverand is also used for articles displaying new musicon the right hand side of the page showing thatAvenged Sevenfold is not the only band with newmusic available.

Red and yellow are used mostly onpage 38s double page spread. Red is

used for the title, for the captionunderneath the title, and for thequestions and band members names inthe actual interviewthis wouldseparate it from the rest of the text andshow where the titles are, so the readercould see clearly what was informationthe band members themselves said.Red is also used for the quote on the

page and because it is larger than mostother text on the page it brings attentionto itself. Yellow highlight the bandsname and every other interviewquestion which shows the reader thename of the band and where theinterview starts, and where eachindividual question is.

The main image has Avenged Sevenfold looking very seriousgaze. When put with their quote, Nothing can stand in our wthem seem very determined and could make a reader wondare doing that is so important. Because they are wearing blaassociated with this music genre it is clear that they would apreaders of the magazine. The picture of Austin Carlile they haperfect summer article has him looking happyif they admirhis band they may read the article to see what they can do

On the front cover the text is all in capitals, which shows that loud, exciting and emotive, like the music.
