Helping our children learn and succeed is a partnership between school and home. Here are some fun things you can do at home that will help your child succeed with school:

When our students take the AIMS test their scores are computed and matched against the scores of other schools. The Arizona Department of Education can see how well each school is doing and which school needs to improve. Our schools at one time were in need of improvement. Over the last several years we have made great strides, but more im-provement is still needed. When our teachers look at the AIMS scores they are able to identify which individual students and which groups of stu-dents need more help. Right now we know that almost half of our students are struggling to meet the requirements that the State has outlined for students to be successful at each grade level. Robles Students go to

Bookman’s Earlier this school year Robles Elemen-tary teachers and staff partnered with Bookmans in order to jump start literacy among our students. Bookmans offered $10.00 in Bookmans cash to all students who read 10 books and wrote 10 book reports. We thought this would be a wonderful incentive for our students to read books of their choice. We also decided to reward those students who met the established goal with a field trip to Bookmans in or-der to tour the facility and learn about commerce as well as to spend their Book-mans gift certificate. We have been amazed at the response from our students as they have risen to our challenge to promote literacy. We took our 1st group of 30 students to Bookmans on November 17th and our 2nd bus is due to depart on December 3rd. Our 3rd bus is full but due to the holidays will have to wait until January and our 4th bus is just about full as well! All of us at Robles are proud of our students reading success; please join us in congratulating each and every one of

On Tuesday November 17th, Robles Elemen-tary School honored their October Students of the Month. Some of the 21 Robles Elementary School Stu-dents who received this honor had lunch with the principal and received special gifts and ice cream from the PTA . Some of the students could not make the lunch because they had earned a field trip to Bookman's. The PTA made sure they received their special gifts. The students who received this honor had been selected by their teacher for always behaving above and beyond in class. They were kind, considerate, followed directions, were respon-sible and helped take care of others.

What’s with the new fence at the

Elementary School?

If you have been to the campus at the Robles Elemen-tary School, you would have noticed that we have put up a very large fence by the front office. We have also put a fence on the east side of the school. The reason is, our open campus allowed anyone to just walk into the school. Parents and guests are always welcome in our school, but we found that other people who did not have school business were walking the halls of the school. This was a great cause for concern. Therefore it was decided that for the continued safety of our students we needed to construct a fence to have the flow of visitors go through the front office. All parents, guests and visitors now must sign in at the front office and receive a pass to be on campus. Anyone who does not have the proper pass can be im-mediately identified. Another safety precaution implemented is at the end of the school day parents need to sign their child out of class before they are put on the bus. No one will be

allowed to remove a child from the school bus. Parents will sign their child out in the office and then be given a red tag. They will then be able to either get their child from class or wait for them in the Robles courtyard. The Middle School also had additional fencing installed for the safety of their students. There is now a gate limiting the ability to drive around to the back of the school. If you have any questions please give us a call. or go to our school website at http://altarvalleyschools.org/ from there you can e-mail your questions to us.
