Robert Indiana’s most famous artwork is “Love”. Originally a card design, it has been recreated many times and in many different forms.

Page 4: Robert Indiana

In this painting, Robert uses repeating circles to create unity.

He repeats the star and diamond shape in the middle of each circle.

He uses words to express his meaning of the American dream.

He repeats the color brown, black, red, blue and yellow. The repetition helps unify the artwork.

Robert Indiana uses the iconic Brooklyn Bridge for his subject

He repeats the same image in a diamond shape.

He adds words in a poem around the circle to send a message about what the bridge means to him.

He limits his colors to a gray scale.
