Reading Olympics is designed to promote teamwork, self-confidence, and reading for FUN! The book list was created for students of all reading abilities and interests. All students in grades 4 & 5 are encouraged to become a Reading Olympian!
Reading Olympians will work in teams to collectively read from the list of 37 books during the school year. Team members will then go to the annual tournament and be asked questions about the books in order to earn points for their team.

START READING THIS SUMMERStudents interested in participating in Reading Olympics next year are welcome to start reading this summer! Visit the public library or your local book store to get started. When students return to school, the school libraries will be well stocked in Reading Olympics titles.
There will be a special recognition during the Reading Olympics tournament next spring for any student who read ALL 37 titles from the list.
MYSTERY TITLE
This year, we are including a “Mystery Title” in the Reading Olympics book list. Students will not know the name of the 37th book until it is revealed at the One District, One Book assembly in early January. Then, during the month of January, every student in all three elementary schools will be reading it at home with their families!
QUALIFICATIONS
Reading Olympians must...
• be a 4th or 5th grade student
• read a minimum of 6 books from the list before the date of the tournament
• attend weekly meetings
• have a positive attitude and be a good team player
MEETING INFORMATION
Weekly meetings will take place during the school day. The time and place will be determined by each school’s Reading Olympics coordinator.
WHERE DO I SIGN UP?
When students return to school in August, they will be given another copy of the book list and a parent permission form.
