2. Over a period of time a need was felt to establish Museum to provide comprehensiveawareness to the future generation about the service and sacrifices of the Commandos of NSG in

Manesar Garrison and so far it has been a popular attraction for NSG personnel as well asvisitors to the NSG Garrison. The NSG Museum and the exterior landscaping wasconceptualized by Shri Sanat Chatterjee, Padam Shree an alumni of the Bengal School of Arts.The mission of our Museum is to collect, restore and preserve NSG memorabilia, includingweapon and equipments for display in a manner commemorating all the operationalengagements in which Commandos of NSG fought.
3. As discussed by DG NSG with Secretary, Ministry of Culture (Govt of India) forproviding Grant to NSG Museum for refurbishment, a letter of recommendation from your goodoffice is required for flirtlier submissionjo Secretary,'Directorate Of Archaeology & Museum,Govt. of Haryana and finally to Ministry of Culture for approval.
4. It is therefore requested that our case for seeking financial assistance under the MuseumGrant Scheme from Ministry of Culture may be recommended to achieve our desired goals inpreserving antiquity and promoting NSG Museum.

AIM ; The aim of the Museimi is to
keep alive the memory of thesacrifice and the heroic and
valiant efforts of the Commandos
of NSG in keeping our nationsafe. The NSG Museum
perpetrates the memory of the |lives sacrified in defense of the
nation and stand as a tribute to '
those who fought. The Museumthemes are the collection and
preservation of historical artifactsand operational research. TheMuseum is above all, for the
increase and difilision of

in the wake of 1984
Operation Blue Stan andthe high collateral damageto Golden Temple, andcivilian and militarycollateral casualties. Since
its raising the NSG hasbeen used in Counter
Terrorism, CounterHijacking & VIPProtection Duties.

29-30 April 1986; About 300 NSGcommandos stqrmed the GoldenTemple in Operation Black Thunder 1.The Temple was cleared and handedover to Punjab Police on 1 May 1986^300 Sikh militants were captured, andthere were no deaths or injuries toreither side.
Januaiy 1988; The NSG conducted QeBlack Hawk, a helAime (yeranon m „the Mand area of Punjab In thisoperation two terrorists were killed andone 7.62mni was recovered.May 1988: 1,000 NSG commandos (allranks) surrounded the Goldra Teinplefor yet another assault, in Operation
Thunder H Inoperation between 15-18 May 1988,the NSG cleared the temple. 40terrorists were killed, and 200surrendered.
4 August 1989: Operation MouseTrap in the Tarn Taran district ofPunjab, in conjunction with PunjabPolice and other security forces.

10 November 1990; NSG task force flownto Kolkata to rescue hostages of a Thaiairbus by Burmese students.
25-26 January 1991: The NSG wasinvolved in Operation Ani Ben, on Citasks in Baroda, (Gujarat) where Punjabterrorists were holed up Inside a house.Two terrorists were killed and two AK-47s were recovered.
27 March 1993: NSG mobilized andmoved to Adampur for rescue ofhostages of Indian Airlines Flight IC 486.24-25 April 1993: NSG Commandosstorm a hijacked Indian Airlines Boeing737 with 141 passengers on board atAmritsar airport during OperationAshwamedh. Two hijackers, includingtheir leader, Mohammed Yousuf Shah,are killed and one is^disarmed before.No hostages are harmed.

15 July 1999; NSG commandos end a 30-hour standoff by killing 2 teiTorists andrescuing all 12 hostages unharmed inJ&K. The terrorists had attacked a BSF
campus- near Srinagar, killed 3 officersand the wife of another. The 12 hostages
were kept locked in a room.
26 November 2008 Mumbai attacks —Operation Black Tornado andOperation Cyclone to flush out terrorists& rescue hostages after multiple attacksacross Mumbai, India. Major SandeepUnnikrishnan and Havaldar Gajender
Singh Bisht of NSG lost their livesduring the operations. Over 900 rooms fV,were scanned, 9 Terrorists killed andover 600 hostages rescued during the ' ^Operation.

An NSG team took partin the operation toneutralize terrorists
where Lt. Col. Niranjanlost his life defusing agrenade or lED boobytrapped on the body of adead terrorist, and 12other members of the
unit were injured. Sixterrorists were
neutralised in the
operation by the NSG.

EXISTING MUSEUM DISPLAYThe driving spirit of the NSGbegins with the entrance gateand the railings all around themuseum. The fine blend oftradition and modernity iswitnessed in the artisticarrangement of a bow and arrowin a shooting position on thegate. Symbolizing alertness,single arrow facing the skydepicts one goal, concentrationand growth. Completing thepicture are two life size blackCommandos standing guard oneither side of the, gate. The gateopens to usher into a world ofaction.

The Space in front of theMuseum's main ioor has beentransformed into a ^ showpiece in the centre of the lushareSi park is the sculpturalfountain depicting the hierarchy ofthe NSG. A central pillar ma^black marble up Nsymbol "Sudershan Chata • Thecentre pillar symbolizes frie NSGheadquarters whileflowing out /.ug ;parleft and right sides ^ the piUustands for the force HQ and theSng centre. The nev^ stoppingflow of water depicts thecontinuous activity and the nevereSng practme that the two groupsare engaged in.

Surrounding of the fountain,there are the figures otanimals and birds amidst theflowering trees depicting thenatural surrounding. inefighting bulls symbolizeforce, the dancing peacockprovides a sense of rhythmW the standing decLalertness, allso typically of NSG. Right at the entry from themain door is the eye catchingmural with stained glasseffect, titled, 'The SevenHorses' which stands for theSun, the God of Power,Strength and life. Controlledby the NSG emblem on top,the seven horses in sevencolours of life are seenjumping across a hurdles inall directions. The messagecomes across strong and clear: No obstacle is impossible tocross if God's hand providesshelter and guidance.

Around the corridor walls of theMuseum, there are over 20 metalsculptures emphasizing power,strength and determination.Starting with the birth of thecosmos, the beginning of all life,the sculptures make their waythrough time to mark the stone,copper and iron ages when manmade his first weapon to initiallysurvive and later used in hisstruggle for power. The sculpturesmove on to the Islamic and theColonial eras when technologystepped in to become a byword insecurity. The sculptures depict theunique blend of man and machinewith total control over the ultimateweapon of defense.

The two cement murals on the leftand the right comers of thebuilding, taken from theMahabharata, one showingDronacharya training Arjun toconcentrate and shoot, the otherdepicting Arjun, now hayingachieved ultimate perfection,targeting the eye of the fish aptlysymbolizes the transformation of aprobationer into a marksman. Therealistically crafted murals with thebronze effect brings us back to Ih®and tmth. The open space in thecentre of the Museum has beensymbolically crafted to display thecomprehensive securit}' providedby the NSG to VIPs.

The NSG Museum proudlypreserves the operational historyand heritage of the long years ofits progress. The vast variety otarmaments gadgets, equipmentsand apparels all stand displayedin silent testimony of thechallenges of the time by gone.The displays of the Museum arehoused in four rooms and theeach room has visual displays,models and equipmentsrecording the history of theforce, the men behind it and itheroes. The weapon &equipments to fulfill theCounter Terrorism, CounterHijacking and VIP Securitytasks are displayed.
