FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

Congratulations to 5/6 Davidson on The Anzac Day assembly.

It was an excellent celebration of respect for those who have

fought for our country but also the celebration of peace.

Thank you also to those students who participated in the

Anzac Day march. Our students were very smartly dressed

and a credit to our school – the wreath was laid on behalf of

the school by Emily Ollington and Bradley Scott.

Grammar Challenge

Well done to both Riverside teams for your participation at

the Grammar Challenge last weekend. Both teams were

outstanding representatives of our school.

Team 1 Tom Schuemaker, Tyson Purton, Noah

Buckley-Moser and Lachlan Sims

Team 2 Nicola Grant, Natasha Frost, Alice Robinson

and Rachel DuVergier

The girls team was successful in the major challenge on Sunday

and received a plaque and medals. This challenge involved

both a creative problem solving task and the construction of a

shelter with a limited range of materials. The girls

acknowledged that they all gelled together and everyone

contributed, we listened to each other’s ideas and we had fun.

They also commented that it was a great experience to meet

people from other schools and it was a fun way to learn about

the goldfields.

A special thank you to Mrs White and Miss Anglesey who gave

up their time over the weekend. Those extras offered by

teachers are really appreciated.

The grade teams have each responded to the new laptops and

laptop trolley as part of a generous donation from the parent

community.

We are delighted with the new laptops and trolley that

have been purchased for our use. This will enhance the

children’s learning and support our teaching programs

across all areas of the curriculum – Prep Team

We are excited to be able to provide more opportunities

for our students to access and integrate technology in

our classrooms – Grade 1/2 team

Thank you for allowing us to expand our access to

technology. It means more children have quality hands

on time – Grade1/2 team

Having access to extra laptops will enhance all aspects of

our teaching and learning programs and give children in

our classes excellent learning opportunities – Grade 2/3

and 3 Team

We are incredibly grateful for the new laptops because

we can now have improved access for our students’

learning program – Grade 5/6 and 6

Who will be the new Dollarmite- Maybe you?

As part of the Commonwealth Bank’s centenary celebrations

we want to find Australia’s best School Banking Saver! As

such between 16 April and 30 June 2012, we are running a fun

and exciting School Banking competition with the winning

child being transformed into their very own Dollarmite

character.

Being part of the competition is easy. A student simply needs

to make 5 deposits at school during the competition period

and then provide us with their best savings tip.

The winning school/class will receive 25 IPads and a $1500

excursion! For the winning student, as well as being

‘Dollarmized’, they will receive an annual movie pass for their

family.

There’s also 50 runner up prize packs that include iPads,

excursions, movie tickets and thousands of Dollarmites

consolations prizes for the students.

A flyer with all competition details will be issued soon.
