Cleaning and disinfectionHygiene checks and the monitoring of cleaning processes have revealed that the use of high pressure washing harbours the risk of organic contaminants (fats or proteins) entering niches and being more widely distributed.

For this reason, pressures are being significantly reduced.

Decide for yourself what is important:● High pressure-resistant

design A labyrinth in front of the seal or multiple screw-fastening of

the lid or door to the enclo-sure, to enable the use of high pressure hosing of up to 120 bar, whether static or manual. As well as hampering servic-ing, multiple screw-fastening also harbours additional

hygiene risks resulting from incorrectly tightened screws or damaged seals.

● Hygienic design The new Hygienic Design avoids the hollows and dead spaces found in labyrinths for high pressure applications.

The roof, which is tilted forwards by 30°, prevents objects from being deposited on it, is easily inspected, and allows fluids to drain off rapidly.

The large roof projection with the overhang edge significantly eases pressure on the seal. It is easily cleaned, thanks to a sufficiently large gap between the overhang edge and the door.

All-round chamfered door edge folds contribute significantly towards ease of cleaning.

The durable all-round, external silicone seal effectively prevents all gaps. It is easily replaced, and is clearly distinguishable from food with its blue colour.

Hinges that are inside the sealing zone create an exceptionally easy-clean design on the outside.

The fastener and lock insert are made from stainless steel on the outside. The material, and in particular the shape, allow easy and reliable cleaning.

The enclosure surface is fully sealed. This means that after machining, only essential openings remain.

If HD enclosures are used instead of stainless steel AE enclosures, there is no additional project planning work involved: The mounting plates have identical dimensions.

Benefits in detail:Finding a way to permanently and securely seal the enclosure against the wall remains a problem. With this in mind, we recommend that you leave sufficient space to clean behind the enclosure.

Depending on the weight and dimensions, one, two, three, four or more supports may be fitted for attachment purposes. They may be mounted on the sides, rear or underside.

Wall spacer brackets may also be used in customised designs or with an adaptor plate for mounting other components such as switches and sockets, as well as wire-mesh cable trays.

Support arm system CP-L, stainless steel In conjunction with the HD compact enclosure and cable entry from below, this offers the ideal solution for the human/machine interface.

The larger diameter provides space to insert several cables and/or larger connectors, and supports greater weights and offers increased stability when assembling the operating unit.

The support section, bent from a single piece, offers ideal hygienic conditions. Furthermore, there are no attachment components or sharp-edged steps on support arm components such as wall/floor mounting, enclosure coupling or enclosure attachment. All seals are external to ensure optimum hygiene requirements. For wall mounting from the outside, we recommend an additional seal and hex screws.

Due to the possibility of condensation forming in the support arm system as a result of temperature fluctuations, when cleaning and disinfecting the plant we recommend that the support arm should be attached to the bottom of the enclosure wherever possible.

Pressure relief stopperEspecially when enclosures are exposed to changing climatic conditions (e.g. with outdoor siting), condensation may form in sealed enclosures due to pressure differences. The integral sealing membrane largely prevents such pressure differences and hence condensation; additionally, it also prevents the ingress of moisture from the outside. Installed in vertical surfaces to protect against dirt.

When a cooling water system is installed in the production

plant or hall, the cheapest and most hygienic method of

enclosure climate control is to use air/water heat

exchangers.

Assuming there is no cooling water system available, the

required cooling output for the individual heat exchangers,

either decentralised or centralised, can be provided via

recooling systems, which may be installed outside of the

open process.

In certain cases, e.g. for frequency converters, water cooling

may also be provided inside the enclosure. To this end, drive

modules from a wide range of manufacturers with a cold

plate at the rear may be mounted directly on the DCP water-

cooled mounting plate.

DCP mounting platePower electronic components can be cooled particularly

effectively using the liquid cooled plate. Heat losses are

cleverly dissipated from the enclosure or housing without

compromising the high enclosure protection category in any

way. Furthermore, liquid cooling is both quiet and a thousand

times more efficient than heat dissipation via air.

The Rittal DCP Cold Plate has received type-tested certification from the TÜV inspection authority and is approved for pressures up to 10 bar.

Where foods are handled in a continuous process, it is often

necessary to provide control and monitoring of production.

Such areas are particularly critical with regard to hygiene, as

the presence of an operator can easily lead to cross-contam-

ination, and thus special hygienic solutions are imperative.

Rittal’s pedestal-mounted command panel is ideally suited to

this task. A further benefit: The modularity of the PC hard-

ware guarantees the cost-effective replacement of individual

components should this become necessary.
